I have an SE s710a and its pretty beat up now. Had it since launch. Looking for a new phone and its pretty much out of these 3. Any current users for these phones, any info would help. I've read reviews on all 3, and looked at youtube to catch em in action. seems like all 3 are good phones. Here is what i want it for:

one hand text messaging
no need for web browsing
solid build
good signal and call quality
camera doesnt really matter as long its is decent
great MP3 qualities
good battery life

i like the LG's wow factor, I like the Curve's messaging capabilities, and I trust the SE build (though I've heard about the keys cracking) and call quality.

Any personal impressions on these? I'm torn.

dumbphones vs. smartphones..

Do you need the PDA/Internet functionality of a smartphone? If not, then your best bet would be to go with the w580i or LG Shine.

as far as what you requested, I wish I would have got the shine as a backup to my w580i, just because I like the design better. For the features, software, camera, mp3, and battery life part the w580i wins.

If you don't need the smartphone features of the Blackberry 8310, I'd suggest the w580i. It seems to meet most of your needs like good signal and call quality, decent camera, good MP3 player (Walkman), and fair battery life. One-hand text messaging on the w580i might be a bit difficult at first because of the small and slightly cramped keypad. However, once you get used to the keypad, text messaging should be relatively easy. The build quality of the w580i is pretty decent too.

I think the Blackberry 8310 is a great phone, but for your needs, the w580i seems to suit you better.

I checked out the W580i, but its build quality didn't appeal to me... seemed less solid than other SE phones I've had. Have you checked it out in person?

The Shine was very solid though when I looked at the store demo.

I've checked out both phones. In spite of the slightly inferior build quality, I prefer the w580i over the lg shine because of the better OS and overall call quality/reception (from my experience). The lg shine does look nice, but I think that's about all.

i've checked out the W580i and the curve adn teh shine. the W580i's build quality is way less tahn i expected. there is no way i can go from an S710a to that thing. Feels like a cheap toy. The Curve was very impressive except the way you send texts and emails is very plain. That is right now the only thing holding me up on buying it. The shine i couldnt test out at all since they are all sold out. they only let me look at it but i didnt play with it.
