rookie needs help with kx1-4130

i purchased a used kx1 that was branded alltel to have as a backup on my alltel service. sure enough, my old phone failed me before my contract was up. i called alltel, and gave them the numbers requested under the battery, and tried to get it activated. everything failed, and it was determined the prior owner had used it last on a cricket account. they said i would have to carry it to a cricket store to get it unlocked. is there any way i can do this myself? i went thru the 111111 and pushing the top right key which got me in the programing section, but after the correct number was put in it still would never activate. thanks for any help offered!
