8100 Muffled Earpiece...

Just got my 8100, and love the reception and quality, but I'm not too thrilled about the quality of earpiece sound. Mine is really muffled and sounds "hollow" like the otehr party is down in a hole or something. Weird!!

Anybody else have that problem? Is it my phone in particular, or is a muffled earpiece sound a wonderful little Sanyo quirk?

I would have your phone looked at. I have had my 8100 a few days and the sound quality is very good. It better than my 4900.

make sure your volume is set on level 1 or 2, should be fine. I think the first few calls I made on my 8100 sounded not that good but the volume was up to high. sanyo has improved the sound quality from the 5300 but still needs to improve. If you still have the problem exchange it.

Thanks for the tips. I set my volume at level #2, which was too low to hear at all on my LG5350, and the sound quality is greatly improved! One of my worries about the Sanyo originally was if the earpiece problems that plagued the 5300 had been corrected, and good to see it has.

Gotta love Sanyo and their earpieces. It's either too loud, or too quiet.

Kinda weird though. After I reset the volume back down to where my ears don't bleed, the very next call had the volume back up!! I have had to mess with it three times since. I may have to take it back and have it scoped.

I've read that a few 8100 users have complained about the volume going up and down during conversations without touching the volume settings. This happen to my 5300 but haven't noticed it on my 8100. I don't know if it's a sanyo or network problem. I never had it happen with my preveious samsung phones. If I'm in a good recetion area and the person I'm calling isan't I wonder if that could casuse it?
