I bought a used sanyo 3100 and it thinks it charging all the time. Even unplugged the battery icon shows it is charging. Do I need a new battery or is there some fix I can do? Ive taken the battery out a few times but it keeps beeping.

Mine did this and it was the battery .I replaced it But then my phone died 2 months later

Maybe a firmware glitch is another problem? I've had my SCP3100 for more than a year and it's been working flawlessly.

I work in a Sprint Phone Repair Center and 99.9999% of the time when a phone (particularly the Sanyos) indicates it's charging but it isn't plugged in to anything, that's a sign of liquid damage. Take a look at the wide data port on the bottom of the phone and see if there's any indication of any gray or greenish-looking powdery residue anywhere in there. That would be corrosion. Could very well also be internal, but that data port is the place to start looking.

The port at the bottom does have green corrosion on it. Where can I get a tool to open the phone up with. The screw looks like it needs a three tined screwdriver to open it up.

It's called a tri-wing bit. You *may* be able to pick one up at a hardware store, but the Internet is your best bet.

You can take an old toothbrush soaked in rubbing alcohol and try to brush the corrosion off the data port. It'll take a little scrubbing but you should be able to get most of it off of there. Cleaning up the insides (if necessary) is another matter.

Thanks Ill try that.
