iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak released

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak released CLICK HERE

Windows users only, with a Mac release expected shortly. This does not jailbreak the iPod touch--iPhone only for now.

Thanks to NateTrue

Now you may be wondering how this jailbreak works. Here's a breakdown:

- iBrickr grabs the 1.1.3 iPhone firmware image and extracts, decrypts, and decompresses the disk image.
- Then it applies a patch, jailbreaking the disk image and activating it, and also installing Installer.app.
- It uploads this new modified image to the phone, as 113_upgrade_image.bin.
- The "1.1.3 soft upgrade" app flashes the phone with the image and reboots.
- You have a perfect, jailbroken, upgraded 1.1.3 phone, with all your settings and music intact

Here a Mirror Nates Site is getting hammered. LINK

If you are already on 1.1.3, see our simple downgrade guide HERE .

STATEMENT OF RISK

As all upgrades are risky, this one is doubly so. You may have to restore your phone using iTunes and start again if it fails. Make sure to back up first!

Does a 1.1.2 phone unlocked with AnySim that is upgraded to 1.1.3 and jailbroken have it's unlock survive?

Its not suppose to update your baseband so your unlock is suppose to survive wait intill more test this theory.

Posted by: nextel330

So if you have upgraded to 1.1.3 already, you cant jailbreak it?

Posted by: dhendriksen

I will try an IPSF unlocked phone tonight and let everyone know how it goes. I AM STOKED! Thanks geek and all the dev team. You rock.

Posted by: mballorre

any word on whether or not IPSF phones get relocked? Not that it matters to me (yet) as I have a Mac. Also, any ETA on when the Mac one drops?

Why dont you click on the words "click here" and read it! It says you must be on a jailbroken 1.1.1 or 1.1.2.

Posted by: XanderMac

my understanding is that 113 filesystem breaks most current 3rd party apps, so what is the point right now?

Also, does this version allow you to keep the current baseband intact?

Also, when will you have a guide for downgrading an otb 113 phone so that it can ne jailbroken? I notice all the stickies are gone and I have no idea if there was already a guide? For that matter why are the stickies gone?

Did you get your answer? I'm just saying read it before you ask questions.

That is the first thing the tutorial states man. Quit wasting bandwidth.

I think he has the same question I have. Can a 113 or otb113 be downgraded and jailbroken.

Posted by: XanderMac

actually. More importantly. If you do have a jailbroken 111 and perform the update, can you downgrade if need be to jailbreak it again if you have to restore the phone? Ericas blog said that the update was a 1 way street right?

Posted by: Lestat_d

The key to restores is the bootloader, with 3.9 you can downgrade to 1.1.1 if required, including baseband.

Also this jailbreak bundles a 1.1.3 firmware upgrade into it, but not basebad update to 4.3 at all - so all previous unlocks will hold, given bb isn't upgraded.

People need to digest all these implications when deciding what to do

If you had read the 1 sticky that's still there it would have answered your question.

Here's a hint: all the guides etc. from the stickies have been moved to the Wiki.

Posted by: bagged

link is down for me

Posted by: fatal

give it a sec, prob hundreds, or more people downloading at once..

Well, I didn't read it did I. Why do you suppose that is oh great one? Could it be because the title of the sticky has absolutely ****ing nothing to do with where all the other stickies went? Or that the wiki sticky has always been there? Thanks for the advice though.

Thats suck .. THE PEOPLE WITH 1.1.3 cant jailbreak it !!! DAMN HAVE TO WAIT NOW !!

Posted by: bagged

wait, so if I do this Jailbreak method will it have google locate me? I am confused.

I believe no, because it requires the baseband to be upgraded.

Posted by: bagged

so the only way to get a jailbroken google locate me 1.1.3 phone is to upgrade to 1.1.3 with itunes, downgrade to 1.1.1 then run this 1.1.3 upgrade/jailbreak package?

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

Mirror link to jailbreak up on original post.

If you are already on 1.1.3, see our simple downgrade guide HERE

Idea, for brave ipsf soul w/ 3.9 bootloader...

1. Itunes upgrade to 1.3, to get 4.3 baseband (maps locate me goodness)
2. Restore 1.1.1, jailbreakme.com, and oktoprep for 1.2 upgrade
3. upgrade to 1.2 , and touchfree jailbreak
4. run the new 1.3 half-jailbreak, to get 1.3 firmware on the phone

In theory -- you end up with 1.3 fw and 4.3 baseband, with maps locate working -- and still unlocked; *IF* IPSF unlock still holds, as it did in other baseband upgrades...

Really brave person (with 3.9 bl for sure) would try this one...which isn't me obviously

Posted by: uncleguito

I have an unlocked, jailbroken iPhone on 1.1.1 but it's saying that it's not jailbroken when I run iBrickr...

Posted by: nouse4aname699

Hm I have 3.9 and I'm on 1.1.3 I'll try downgrading tonight and see what happend I guess. What's the worst thing that could happen?

Posted by: Kasakato

I am downloaded 1.1.3 now. The first two steps were easy.

Posted by: CLERiC_AJ

I am jailbroken on 1.1.2 right now, will the downgrade method from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 work if I never activated my iPhone? I assume it will just as the downgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 on my OTB phone worked right?

You will have the same google maps as now -- but without a 4.3 baseband upgrade (which isn't in the 1.1.3 jailbreak released) you will not get maps locate me pseudo gps functionality working.

Are you sure you need to upgrade 1.1.2 as an intermediate step? Supposedly the new 1.1.3 upgrade works on 1.1.1 jailbroken iPhones just fine.

Posted by: Ishimaru

WTF...when downloading and going to install the "soft upgrade" I get "Main script execution failed". What does that mean???

Lame. What about the people who already have 1.1.3??

Okay, say I have 1.1.3.

And I use the method in the OP to downgrade to the 1.1.1.

It says the phone portion of my phone won't work, but what if I upgrade to the jailbreak 1.1.3?

Would my phone work again?

con someone confirm the only way to get Locate ME in google maps is to be on At&t, upgrade to 1.1.3 with itunes, downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak, then do this new upgrade back to 1.1.3?

Same. I also hear that some of the new google map features don't work. Most of the installer programs won't work yet.

Posted by: playin4sheezy

Has anybody gotten the jailbreak for 1.1.3 working??
I am in the process of doing it right now and wanna know if anyone were successful with this method?

Posted by: zx6racer

Any word on it working on an unlocked iPhone or one with a modded sim card ?

Posted by: fatal

i upgraded without any problems...

locate me does not work...

Posted by: fordmanss12

unlocks work b/c the baseband has not been upgraded in the patched 1.1.3.

Locate Me will not work because you will me missing the new baseband.

So I can assume this means you have an anysim unlocked phone running the hacked 1.1.3?

Posted by: fordmanss12

I have upgraded one of my phones, seems to work fine, the new ringtones aren't working for me though.

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

Here a Guide

Yes this update/jailbreak doesn't update your baseband so if you have never had 1.1.3 installed your baseband will remain v4.02 and unlocked if you used anySim or IPSF and since google maps locater need the new baseband 4.03 it will not work.

How to get working google locations with jailbroken 1.1.3

u have to have a legal simcard, and upadted to 1.1.3 baseabnd

then jsut replace /usr/libexec/lockdownd with original one, from 1.1.3

and ur phone will call and locations will work

it's only for legal at&t/o2/etc users and 1.1.3 baesband

Quoted from netkas

I just upgraded to 1.1.3 using this method.

CONFIRMED: It works perfectly for jailbreaking AND unlocking previously unlocked phones. Using it with T-Mobile now.

Any issues with EDGE settings not saving? I am using T-Mo as well.

Posted by: playin4sheezy

I had 1.1.2 jailbroken and did the method above...
Everything came out fine. Except Summerboard wont show up anymore.. Cant uninstall it in Installer because it says mainscript failed.. Cant install customize because doesnt support 1.1.3.....
Is there anyway to get summerboard working again on 1.1.3 because I like different themes

Posted by: Lestat_d

A lot of 3rd party (cr)apps won't work for a while -- until their devs update to 1.1.3 fw supporting code.

Posted by: The_Vincester

So... I'm not sure why to upgrade if locate me doesn't work. Web clips? That's certainly not enough of a reason, as I've made many of my own.

Also, since the location of apps were changed from root, won't this break every 3rd party app?

Sounds like way too early to me to upgrade...

edit: as pointed out from above

I can now send a text message to more than 1 person and I can save 75,000 text messages. And I get to see my icons wiggle.

Sucks about google maps though and that none of the programs work. Most of that was expected.

Does anyone know if it is safe to downgrade back to 1.1.1 and jailbreak it and use that again?

Posted by: rob4448585

so i tried this TWICE on my NOTB 1.0.2 phone that was upgraded to 1.1.1 and jailbroken.

it does the whole update perfectly, but after you do the installer update, the phone restarts and is in DFU mode.

I load up old ibrickr and try to kick it out, but then it says it can't boot the phone and to restore with itunes.

Tried twice.

I can send multiple text messages to multiple people too. If you have 75,000 text messages... well, how could you do that?

So, basically for icons wiggling. Hmmm...

I mean, I'm all for progress, but I'm not sure what this (really) offers people who can do the same thing with an jailbroke 1.1.2 excepts risks and breaking things that work.

Plus, the 3rd part Locate Me app was updated today and is now much more accurate. To each his own. Have fun guys!

I need to know this too. There has to be someone out there that's tried this..

I just started a thread with this exact question. Hopefully we'll get some good news shortly

What i want to know is if turbosim/stealthsims work with the new baseband after being jailbroken.

Posted by: drew05

Quote:

Well this jailbreak mode doesn't upgrade the new baseband. What we're waiting for is a jailbroken 1.13 with the baseband update. Then we'll know if our stealthsim/turbosim works.

Posted by: chriskay

Hmm... So I had 1.1.1 jailbroken/unlocked phone, and I held my breath and ran the upgrade. It went through without a hitch, thankfully.

Everything seems to work fine, except 3rd party apps are now gone, and there's one other annoying problem - my ringtones don't work. I'm not talking about the custom ones, I mean the default ones. They show up in the list, but they don't produce any sound.

Other sounds work fine (i.e. new mail, charging on, unlock click), but no ringing - just vibrate. Anyone have an idea how to fix that?

Posted by: Lestat_d

Mac OS version has just been released at http://cre.ations.net/blog/post/iph...lbreak-released

Well, I should have waited before I traded my iPhone, but they took forever so. . . I love my tilt anyways!!

Well, I'm glad that its released. Did they find another exploit to counter this one?

I did it ! Now I just have to reload all my apps.

Posted by: RNF1968

Everything seemed to be going fine for me until the last and final reboot. My phone just got hung at the Apple logo screen. Couldnt get out of it. Did a restore. Oh well! Maybe I will have better luck next time!

the onlything me back is if my phone will still unlocked
I m using stealth sim to unlock mine

To all of you that upgraded did your default ringtones still work? Chriskay said everything was fine with the exception of his default ringtones not producing any sound.

iphoneringtonemaker v2.1 works good, i just tried it.

are your apps still there after the upgrade? I am only left with the installer, however i notice if i launch installer and go to uninstall it lists all the programs that were installed...

if i uninstall them there, will it remove the files properly?

Second that question.
If this works, we end up with the latest baseband and jailbroken 1.1.3
Has anyone tried this with bootloader 4.6?

i had the same issue :

plus i bought this morning ''iSim'' and ''voice Command'' so it kinda pissed me off if i couldnt use them!

but stay assured it worked. I am going to explain how :

Originally i had all of this installed on my 1.1.2 Anysim Unlocked :

1)BSD subsystem
2) open SSH
3) iPOD 3 (add the ipod touch icon of ''video'' and ''music'' by the way, i wonder if we can have the ''contact'' icon ?)
4) KB2 (disable auto-completion of words)
5) Audio AMP (tweaks 1.1.2)
6)iSIM
7) Voice Dial (Voice Command)
8) Backgammon
9) Summerboard
10) Installer

before upgrading to 1.1.3, i uninstaled ''Summerboard'' because i heard it was impossible to do so after the new upgrade.

After 1.1.3 :

No apps icon on my homescreen besides ''installer''. But when u go to installer and check all the installed programs, u can clearly see they are all there! but their respective icons are missing!

the best to do is uninstall everything and Re-Install.

FYI : all my number 10 didnt work : iPOD3, Summerboard, BSD subsystem (which u in fact, have to RE-install to, even if it says ''re-install'' in installer)

Posted by: tondog

someone tell me where the program is in installer!!!??? I cant find it at all....

From what I understand, Apple changed where Apps are stored. They're likely the same place they were before though though this jailbreak process, but will no longer be recognized by the home page. Installer.app must be different, thought, and it also "knows" where everything was before and still "sees" it there.

You should be able to SSH into your phone and delete the old apps manually.

That lockdown file does not work I think. I downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 then upgraded to 1.1.2 then used the mac version to update to 1.1.3(after I update I have no cell service either). Then I used cyberduck to move the virgin lockdown file to my Iphone. Then I reboot and Iphone get sucks at the Apple logo.

So I restored to official 1.1.3 and everything works fine so I know my baseband is not corrupt either.

Any idea Geek what I am doing wrong?. Also did all the above but plugged in my Iphones to itunes after replacing lockdown file and my music and contacts were sync. Then my Iphone reboot and got stuck at the Apple.

Restored back to virgin 1.1.3 everything works fine again.

Go to settings --> general --> reset --> reset network settings.

3.9 bootloader checking in.

do not like the result. lol

3.9 bootloader will not work with this jailbreak method

@ fatal thank you it worked, had me worried there for a second.

I'm also having the default ringtone problem, and "E" (edge) does not show up anymore.

Thanks to the poster who suggested to reset network settings to get EDGE working again - that fixed my problem, thank you!

However I, too, am missing the "E" logo at the top. It works, but no "E". I get the wi-fi symbol whem I'm connected to wi-fi, but no E for EDGE.

Also, still no ringtones. I haven't tried custom ringtones yet. Has anyone else?

Does upgrading officially to 1.1.3 via itunes to get the new baseband, then downgrading to 1.1.1 and jailbreaking from there give the new google maps location features?

NOPE SORRY

Posted by: Ishimaru

ROFL, ok, so the Wallpaper app (GREAT app btw), it works, however, it creates this gigantic icon that spreads over two pages. It might have to do with the fact that I have SummerBoard installed, but it's still funny none the less.

Jailbreak to 1.1.2 and try. I've tried 3 different jailbroken 1.1.2 phones, and they've all worked.

It actually DOES work just fine, as I'm using it right now. And please read what I wrote JUST above you...

OK - further to my previous posts (no ringtones), I just uploaded a custom ringtone, and it works. So just the default ringtones don't work, even though they are listed.

Posted by: CannibalKidd

Everything appears to have worked for me. The only question I have is that my carrier is now "iPod" is there any way to get this back to my real carrier? Prior to the upgrade I had a custom logo icon.

In Network Selection it sees Rogers, just doesnt put that up on the homescreen???

Once you do that, does EVERYTHING work on the iPhone? (ringers, etc.)

Does this work with a Turbo Sim or the like?

furthermore

does it work on a OTB 1.1.2 or OTB 1.1.3 (if there are any out yet) with a Sim hack?

I had a 1.1.2 OTB, had upgraded awhile ago to 1.1.3 and now i downgraded and used apptapp to force the phone out of recovery mode. once im out i get an incorrect sim . so i used the method were you use the number pad to get into the phone and got wifi on and got to jailbreakme.com. once i got there tho it crashes safari like its sopost to but it doesnt jailbreak. Any ideas?

Posted by: Ishimaru

You downgraded to what firmware? As AppSnapp only works on 111.

Posted by: fatal

so whats the fix for the default ring tones not working?

Posted by: Ishimaru

From what I hear, you need to transfer the original 111 ringers to the phone and overwrite what's there now. I'm going to test that when I get home (no wifi at work).

Posted by: verks

my ringers work fine on jailbroken 1.1.3

so is this illegal?

Me too - I think most of these problems are being experienced by people going from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3 without stopping at 1.1.2.

I'm not having any problems "knocks on wood". I did go from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3. Only had the network problem, and now that was fixed.

If you want to downgrade, just make sure you have downloaded the 1.1.1 firmware. put your phone in restore mode and hold down the option and click on restore (for mac) or shift and click restore (i think thats it for PC) and select your 1.1.1 file.

Once it completes you just need to jailbreak via jailbreakme.com

If your phone has been jailbroken correctly, you should have access to safari and should be able to run anysim, provided you have not upgraded your baseband... you may another problem if you cant get to safari...

are you getting any error message?

alright guys i used the keypad trick to get into safari and jailbreak...now im in ibrikr and it seems stucl under "checking your phone" is it beter to be on 1.1.2?

Enjoy. It's the same sorta "soft" upgrade like Nate's is. Which is why it's disappointing. We need one that's native so we can have 113 baseband, to make Google's Locate work.

You already can have the new bb unlocked...just not for OTB.

Upgrade your to 1.1.3 using iTunes. This will upgrade the baseband. Now downgrade the FW to 1.1.2 (only firmware, leave your BB alone at this point) and use nates ibrickr way of upgrading and unlocking.

This even survives ISPF unlock should you have a need for it to survive.

hey does anyone how how can i make the tmobile data settings stay in edge in order to make it work ?

i have a 1.1.1 unlocked iphone.. so if i upgrade to 1.1.2 and jailbreak and then go to 1.1.3 and jailbreak my sim well work on rogers? or should i wait a bit longer so that everything is fully functional?

Posted by: j4y_7

No, when you upgrade to 1.1.2 a new baseband FW is written to your phone and your phone is relocked. You will have to unlock the 1.1.2 baseband.

Well...from what I've read, you have to enter those commands everytime you reboot or switch sims. That's honestly not worth it.

It depends how you unlocked your phone in the first place.
If you used ISPF, it will remain unlocked. Any other unlocking method will relock upon upgrade.

I still strongly suggest not upgrading if you have a need to unlock as you don't gain anything from upgrading.

If his 1.1.1 phone was unlocked with anysim 1.1, the upgrade to 1.1.2 would write a new baseband to his phone and relock it. He would have to unlock the 1.1.2 baseband in order for his phone to work with Rogers, regardless if he upgrades to 1.1.3 or not.

Why else would "your guide" require unlocking using anysim 1.2u after upgrading to 1.1.2?

O haha, sorry, i thought he mentioned the unlocking of anysim 1.2u. But guess he didnt. Your right

What about jailbreaking 1.1.3 OTB?

Posted by: j4y_7

To jailbreak OTB 1.1.3 you need to downgrade to 1.1.1, upgrade to 1.1.2 and then perform the 1.1.3 jailbreak.

Keep in mind that this doesn't unlock your phone, it only gives you access to third party apps.

i baught my iphone unlocked on 1.1.1 and sorry i forgot to mention i was going to upgrade to 1.1.2 and unlock/jailbreak then go to 1.1.3. i dont know how my iphone was unlocked i never asked the guy. it was brand new and he unlocked it infront of me but i didnt know a thing about iphone so i never bothered to ask what program he used. if i update to 1.1.3 is the locate me and stuff all gunna work? or should i just update to 1.1.2 and wait?

Posted by: Ishimaru

Google "Locate Me" will ONLY work if you install Navizon or Locate Me and run it once. HOWEVER, since you're on 112 baseband, the locate me feature will not stick after a reboot; so you much repeat that process again. If you're an Cingular (at&t) customer, you can have 113 baseband and jailbroken 113 firmware just fine; and Locate Me will work even after a reboot.

Posted by: Lestat_d

Even then isn't the locate functionality at half wattage -- only able to use local wi-fi hotspots to triangulate, EDGE/GPRS tower connections are disabled until baseband upgraded to 4.3?

I'm on ATT, so to do this I would need to do a restore and be on a stock 1.1.3, then follow the downgrade to 1.1.1 procedures, and jailbreak that, then jailbreak into 1.1.2 and then 1.1.3?

And just skip the baseband downgrade thats mentioned, so it stays at 1.1.3 baseband?

Posted by: Ishimaru

Are you a legit at&t customer? Or hacked activation? If hacked, it wont work.

Posted by: PhoneLines

Legit. Just paid my AT&T bill last night

So, guess I'm off to upgrade and downgrade to upgrade again......wheee!

I'm guessing though that with the baseband being 1.1.3, I won't get any activation though 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 though...only after I'm finally on 1.1.3?

Posted by: birdie1

I have a 1.1.1 OTB phone that I had jailbreak on. I then updated to 1.1.3 and really enjoy the mapping software.
My question is this.... Can I use the new 1.1.3 Jailbreak and still have my phone work properly and have the map work properly?

I don't want to have to do anything to my phone each time I turn it on or off.
Also, I use ATT and have not unlocked the phone (or have the need to unlock it)

Thanks for any advice on this matter.

Darrell

I ran the Nate True upgrade to 1.1.3 (Thanks a million) and it worked flawlessly on my iPhone (1.1.1 Jailbroken, etc.) particularly after I installed the BigBoss fixes (again, thanks a million). When I went to do my wife's phone, everything went well except she has no sound when using the iPod (sound works fine for phone). Neither headphones nor speaker work. Also, it seems as if when playing a song on the iPod, you can start the song but once it starts, you are unable to go back to pause.
Any help with these two problems would be greatly appreciated.

Posted by: chriskay

Hmm... You know what? I just tried the same thing, and my songs won't play either, BUT... some songs will. By process of elimination (thank god I don't have too many songs loaded on), the songs that won't play are the ones downloaded through iTunes. The ones that WILL play are ones I have ripped from my own collection. So it appears that something is broken with the DRM.

Common issue when updating from 1.1.1 (I experienced this on my first try, using 1.1.1 as the upgrade point rather than 1.1.2). Starting with jailbroken 1.1.2 is the only option on getting either jailbreak method to work.

Nope you will have to reinstall them anyways. Also some dont work with 113 yet.

Posted by: deadtorights

I know with natetrue there some problem with the E logo being dissapear, mail not saving password and problem with youtube. Is the problem still there with the official DEV JB and update?

Posted by: Ishimaru

No there's not. But then again, I'm a legit Cingular (at&t) user, so everything is working 100% just fine for me.

Posted by: usrbin

I've been on 1.1.1 and never updated to 1.1.2
I only did the 1.1.2 update yesterday in order to do
the dev team 1.1.3
After 1.1.3 finally crashed today and put me in restore mode,
I wanted to go back to 1.1.1, alas, i found out once you go to 1.1.2
its not easy to go back to 1.1.1 because my modem firmware was updated
to 04.03.13_G

Posted by: Ishimaru

If you did the jailbreak properly, you wouldn't be at the 113 baseband. The only way to get the updated baseband is if you update to 113 through iTunes. Downgrade to 111, jailbreak it, and downgrade the baseband.

It's not whether you have enough free space on your phone but rather the small OS partition.

Best results are doing it from a restored 1.1.2 as far as anyone can tell.

Posted by: deadtorights

So I just need to restore it to 1.1.2 and don't have to do any Jailbreak or unlock?
So i guesse I have to to reboot the phone before trying to restore?

anyways got it working.. i just had to reboot even if it was stuck and in the About screen it show 1.1.3

Well you will have to unlocked it and there no software unlock for out of the box iPhones with 112 or 113 because of the Bootloader v4.6. But you could maybe use a NextSim. But do your research on it first.

Ishimaru - You are a Cingular customer and so am I. Are you using the orange/white Cingular 64K smartchip sim in the iphone?

You did not have to unlock the phone in order to use the sim?

Yup, still the same old Cingular 64k SIM from way back when. And nope, I didn't have to unlock at all, worked just fine.

Thanks for your answer.

I thought I've read somewhere awhile back that you don't have to unlock the phone if you're using AT&T? You just need to jailbreak and then bypass activation. I just wanted to see if this was still possible with the either 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 firmwares. I guess I just misunderstood, so I can't use it with my current AT&T account.

1.1.3 Jailbreak is on installer now as "Official 1.1.3 Upgrader" Make sure your on 1.1.2 jailbroken and have set the iphone to "Never" Auto Lock before running it.

**Note people are reporting some issues with this method if your a legit ATT user.

Correct I dont think you have to unlock again dough downgrade to 1.1.1 and see if it stil unlocked if it is then just update to 1.1.2 no unlocking needed.
