MPT & Q9h ?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi All...

Just stepped up from a V3 Razr to a Q9h smartphone today...

So far I'm really loving it....

I've loaded Active Sync and that seems pretty straight forward however it does not give me the option to text, or make ring-tones...etc from the computer as I was accustomed to with Moto Phone Tools...

My typical phone usage is for work...But texting was a pain with the Razr...and when I got home I would forward all voice calls to the land line, and plug the V3 into the computer to charge while also opening MPT...

I have my computer connected to my Home Theatre and Big screen so that I can keep a PIP window open on it and switch back & forth between whatever I'm watching, surf the internet, stream music, and answer text msgs all from the comfort of my lazyboy couch (I also have a wireless mouse & keyboard)

Does anyone know what driver I would need to have MPT (I have the latest version) recognize the Q9h ?

Or...Is there another program that anyone would recommend that will give me the ability back that I seem to have lost...Mainly computer access to messaging ?

Thanks,
Steve~

You shouldn't NEED Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) to do this.

Q9h is recognized directly as a High Speed USB connected device.
Copy your MP3 ringtones to your phone; then in the settings > customization set them as ringtones, no?

Uninstall the MPT if its affecting your ActiveSync.

Thanks for the response...

I had no problem transferring ringtones (I have a file on the computer with my already saved/created MP3 ringtones)...I was speaking of Creating them like is done in Multimedia center in MPT...

Actually that's not my real concern...I'm more interested in being able to retrieve & send Text messages directly from the computer as I could in MPT using the V3 as the modem to send/receive...

The reason is as I explained above (probably not well enough)...
I prefer to type on the large keyboard and also don't want to get up to answer each text...Since I charge my phone from the computer and fwd the voice calls anyway....I don't need to carry 2 phones around the house...

Oh sorry ... I read that all wrong. For that inquiry I'm stumped as I've never used MPT first hand.

Hi guys....

Been gone for a few days...But does anyone know of software the will allow texting and ringtone composition from the computer as Moto Phone Tools does...That will work with the Q9h...MPT seems not to be able to pair up with the Q9h....

BTW....The Q9 talked & took pictures all weekend on the extended battery...

I really am liking it so far !
