(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi,

I just completed the tutorial on the newly released Jailbreak for Updating to 1.1.3 iPhone Firmware.

I've included all steps on the way including the one that had me tripped up for a while (Compatibility Mode).

Its only for Windows for now but the Mac version is coming!

Thanks!

wow sounds fairly simple enough! thx for this. But I did have a question. I'm still runnin 1.0.2 is there any other necessary steps i need to take? or do i have to upgrade to a diff. version then upgrade to 1.1.3? thanks in advance

2 questions:

Can you run this while you have your Stealth/Next Sim in the phone with your own carrier Sim..or do you have to put the original AT&T Sim in?

I sync my iPhone with a Mac, but I jailbroke it with the jailbreak1.1.2.bat (Windows) because I couldn't get the jailbreak.jar to work on my Mac..I did the firmware upgrades and downgrades with my Mac and then moved over to my PC JUST for the jailbreak.bat and that worked fine with no problems....so... can I use this with my PC even though it's "partner" computer is a Mac?

Im also interested in this... I am running 1.1.2 o.t.b with the 4.6 bootloader. I have my phone jailbroken and I am using a stealthsim to use with Tmobile... will I have a problem upgrading?

Thanks again for putting this together!
I always enjoy reading these guide, they are always clear and detailed.

Will you eventually add the steps to first upgrade to 1.1.3 using iTunes (to get baseband version 04.03.13_G) in order to have the Maps' "Locate Me" functionality, then downgrade back to 1.1.1 using Shift-Restore to jailbreak again?

Thanks!

As far as I know you need to be on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2

I used a supersim to do this tutorial and had no problems. As far as I know an unlock should hold through this upgrade since it does not change your baseband.

I only sync with my mac and did this via windows with no problems...

As soon as a jailbreak is available for the new baseband I will post the tutorial, of course

quick question, im on 1.1.1 unlocked.. does the upgrade to 1.1.3 JB keep the unlock?

+1. I'd be interested to know as well.

it will keep the unlock since the above method of upgrading does not upgrade baseband.

Only problem is that you will not be able to use the Locate Me feature from 1.1.3 because the baseband is not updated. Hopefully a unlock will come for the current baseband.

ok semi unrelated question - in the screenshots on the tutorial - i see a new meter at the top between the battery and the bluetooth icons. what is that other meter for? i don't see it on mine

Right, you need to be on jailbroken 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 to do the soft-upgrade to 1.1.3 and keep it jailbroken, that makes sense.
What I'm wondering is whether it's possible to get to 1.1.3 via the "official" method (update/restore via iTunes) to get to the latest baseband version.

Assume for a second that the baseband doesn't need to be unlocked (AT&T SIM).
Even with the latest bootloader (4.6) that doesn't allow you to use the SIM on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 after downgrading from 1.1.3, wouldn't this soft-upgrade method still work to get you back to 1.1.3 and end up with the latest baseband?

Thanks

That meter is the battery level of the bluetooth head set he is using. I think.

Can you move the icons around (via wiggle) in this jailbroken 1.1.3 version? Sorry, had to ask

Posted by: slevytam

Marc, I think this would be the solution you are looking for. http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25185

Yes, you can do the wiggle thing
