Downgrading from 1.1.3

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

i'm trying to downgrade from 1.1.3 to either 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 and in either case when taking it out of restore mode (after the downgrade finishes with error). i get the incorrect SIM message. i'm on ATT and using the original SIM.

if i restore back to 1.1.3 it works fine.
i was wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if so are there any solutions?

Thanks a lot.

i just downgraded right now after 10 minutes of 1.1.3. I was able to restore with no problems. Do you have the 1.1.1 file?

Do you not just need to re-activate using iTunes?

iTunes said it can't deal with this phone since the SIM is wrong.
i'm about to do it again. will give you more details if needed.

EDIT. maybe it's iTunes 7.6?

when doing the downgrade to 1.1.1 first time. the ibrickr does not take it out of restore mode. after repeating the steps, it takes it out of restore mode, but shows that sim is incorrect...

ok, I just dealt with this a couple of hours ago with a friend's phone. 1.1.3's baseband won't work on the other firmwares(it gives incorrect sim even with the "correct" sim insterted) you need to downgrade the baseband to use other firmwares.

but the only reason for downgrading is to install the jailbroken 1.1.3 and i'd rather keep the baseband. does this make sense? and also, how do i downgrade the baseband, if i cant even activate the phone?

Are you running bootloader 3.9 or 4.6?

if you're going back to 1.1.3 then don't worry about the incorrect sim problem. it will be fine once you get it back up to 1.1.3

Posted by: lemondster

the problem is getting access to the phone to install installer.app

Posted by: PDR447

oh, so I'm assuming you are trying to activate it legitimately then. ya you won't be able to do that, you'll have to hactivate 1.1.1 quick search should show you how(i believe if you go to jailbreakme.com from a pc it will tell you how as well)

ahh thanks

i will try in the morning its past my bedtime

This did NOT work for me. My phone was 1.1.2 when new. I had upgraded to 1.1.3 and then followed the downgrade to 1.1.1 and jailbreak process.

I got 1.1.3 reinstalled fine, but they phone would not camp on any cell network. There must be a problem with the fact that the 1.1.3 jailbreak software uses an older version of the modem software.

Everything worked except for GSM/EDGE.

You're problem may have been the activation. did you try the "official" lockdownd file?

I tried offical lockdownd file and the phone freezes at the Apple logo. I have no cell service either. I have a legit ATT service for Iphone. If you know how to fix it please let us know.

Thanks

hmm, the freezing at the apple logo is weird. all I can think of for that is to just start the process over fresh. sounds like there may have been some weird error somewhere.

LOL I had tried the follow:

downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 then jailbreakme.com then mac update 1.1.3. No signal so I copied virgin lockdown. freezes at Apple Logo.

downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 then jailbreakme.com okprep 1.1.2 then upgrade to 1.1.2 and then then mac update 1.1.3. No signal so I copied virgin lockdown. freezes at Apple Logo.

downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 then jailbreakme.com then mac update 1.1.3. No signal so I copied virgin lockdown connected to Itunes which did a sync and rebooted my Iphone but still freezes at Apple Logo.

No idea what else I could try anymore.

Btw I upgraded back to virgin 1.1.3 and everything works fine.

hmm, well at least your not bricked!

so you can get to 1.1.3 jailbroken but you have no signal, then when trying the lockdownd file the phone freezes at the apple logo.

that sum it up pretty much?

I've been working on this now for about 4 hours :-(. If anyone can help me it's appreciated.

What's happened so far. Tried to downgrade to 1.1.1. Ibrikr will get out of recovery mode but I get the sim error message.

I got so frustrated that I just tried to go back to 1.1.3 and not worry about having a jailbreak phone and I get an unknown error 6. I try and go back to the 1.1.1 and get the error 1015 and then I use ibrikr and get the Sim error message.

I just repeats over and over.

I'm so frustrated right now. I don't care about having a jailbreaked phone. I am w/AT&T also btw.

So I can't downgrade, I can't go to the current firmware, I can't do anything :-(. I'm gouing to bed and hoping someone has some help in the morning.

good morning
well, I'm back on not jailbroken 1.1.3 and its working ok. I will try this process a couple more times a bit later. I want to see of I can downgrade and then go to jailbroken 1.1.3 and see if bad sim message will still be there.
Or should I hacktivate it first on 1.1.1?

Yup that is basically the problem.

This is the exact same thing that is happening to me. i restored my phone to 1.1.3, but now i cannot access Mail.app. Anybody have any idea?

I cannot add email accounts to my phone it just crashes out. If I go to settings and add the account, the phone doesn't save the email settings.

EDIT: I have reset the phone and tried 1.1.3 restore again. Still nothing

Posted by: dolmar

OK figured out the problem. You need to set the lockdown file to 555 by setting mode +x.

Now my Iphone is jail broken and works fine.

Posted by: lemondster

i did not understand any of that last post! :-(

i dont understand setting the lockdown file

you can find more info about the fix here. I tried this and it worked.

http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25056

You need to download the original lockdownd file in the forum and replace the one on your phone using ssh. I used winscp to do it. When you connect to your phone go to the usr/libexec folder and copy the new lockdownd to it. Make sure to right click on the file once copied and change the permissions to 0555 or your phone will loop and you'll have to redo everything.

goodluck

link to file is wrong up top

that's the right link

Tonman23,

Couple of questions:
1) To ssh don't you need an app on the iphone?
2) What is a Mac app that will allow me to access the iPhone?

Yes u need bsd sub system and open ssh on the phone. You can use cyberduck as an ssh client for ur mac. Once u have them installed get ur ip address and use cyberduck to connect to it and copy the lockdownd file. The username is root pass is alpine. Once again don't forget to change the file permissions to 0555 once its copied, I think u can right click and do it in properties.
