Why is the 8820 Better Than the 8310?

I've read a number of reports on some Blackberry forums with the 8310 Curve series (8300, 8310, 8320) having a few small problems, such as:
* Rubber strips on the edges of the phone peeling off on some of them.
* Dust problems under the screen
* Dust getting in the camera hole (it's uncovered)
* A few other QC nits (and mine has some annoying play in the battery cover)
I see on the AT&T site, the 8820 is a whole lot more expensive, yet doesn't have a camera. It seems to have the same processor speed and memory and is larger/heavier. Why is it 3 times the price of the Curve series? Does it have a higher build quality?
Are there any recurring problems with the 8820 series?
Thanks for any help.

The 8820 is most sold to the Corp side of the market where the 8310 is a consumer device.
The general consumer is a little more sensitive to price than the corp.
I use both and I feel the 8820 has a better and more robust build quality.

Exactly. The 8820 is more of a business phone and includes wifi and no camera. 8310 is a consumer phone with a camera but no wifi.

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind indulging a few more questions -
1. Does the 8820 have a larger screen than the Curve?
2. Is the 8820 easier to type on?
3. Is it as ergonomic as the Curve? The web site shows that it is slightly wider, but I've not been able to hold one. (I've held the Curve.) In other words, which model do you enjoy carrying and using more?
And last, I noticed that the 8800 series has been out since last summer. Would it be wise to wait a bit for a possible new model? (Would prefer not to spend $300-$400 for a BB that may get replaced soon.)
One other question - the battery cover on my 8310 (which I'm planning to return, maybe for an 8820) flexes when I press the send key or type on the left side of the keyboard. It is slightly raised away from the battery and flexes down, giving the feeling of almost wanting to pinch my left index finger. It doesn't pinch it, but always feels that way and has been annoying. Does anyone else's Curve do that?
Thanks again for the help.

Ok...lessee...
1. Does the 8820 have a larger screen than the Curve?
No, the screens on both the 8820 & Curve are the same size.
2. Is the 8820 easier to type on?
It depends. The keys on the 88xx series are pushed against each other almost seemlessly. Some find the 88xx keypad much harder to type on compared to the Curve...some prefer it. Frankly, I like them both...but I give a slight nod to the Curve only because the keys (although smaller) are spaced a little further apart.
3. Is it as ergonomic as the Curve? The web site shows that it is slightly wider, but I've not been able to hold one. (I've held the Curve.) In other words, which model do you enjoy carrying and using more?
The Curve has a more ergonomicaly-friendly shape than the 8820 IMO, since it's a little smaller and has the "warmer" feel of the rubberized side pieces vs. the shiny chrome pieces on the 8820. To me, the 8820 feels wider and more substantial than the Curve...and it looks much more business-like and elegant. I like the Curve for "everyday", but use the 8820 for business and when I am dressing up.
4. And last, I noticed that the 8800 series has been out since last summer. Would it be wise to wait a bit for a possible new model? (Would prefer not to spend $300-$400 for a BB that may get replaced soon.)
One of the chances you take with any mobile device you buy is in it becoming "old school" quickly with technology marching forward, and new models being released seemingly overnight. But...even with the new 4.5 OS upgrade coming out soon...you will hardly be using obsolete equipment if you choose to buy a current model BlackBerry now.

No.
