Working with my T-Mobile MDA. About to flash to another WM6 version and want to have my contacts since it resets the phone. Save it to the SIM? or will doing that clear the SIM? What is the other way to do it via activesync? I have never actually done it through activesync

If you save it to sim, it will not be touched by flashing the phone.
Flashing does not touch or effect the contents of the sim.
