going to genius bar with an unactivated phone?

my power button does not work, so i need to go to an apple store. do you guys think this is a good idea? i have tmobile, so i was using turbosim and my iphone was jailbroken. so i had to restore it. right now it's not activated.

You shouldnt have any problems, you just have to hope you dont go to one of those stores that refuses to exchange or re-pair without att&t activation. But aside from not having an at&t account there is no way of them knowing that you jailbroke your phone if you performed a restore.
Just talk up the sales clerk before explaining them your problem... i always start off with how are you, and how is your day going? That way you catch them off guard before you tell them your problem...

I thought jailbreaking the phone was fine and didnt void the warranty... I thought that it was unlocking the phone that voided it??

So what if the phone is not activated, where does it say you must activate your phone after purchase. Heck, you bought it and was waiting for your tmobile contract to expire.
