No SMS tone Tytn II

I don't have any audible SMS tone or vibration, despite going into sounds and notifications, and checking the box, and changing the tone.
It doesn't matter which tone I choose - one that came with the device, or one of my own, it doesn't seem to play anything when a message is received.
I've restarted after selecting, and I don't have any out of the ordinary software installed.
What's the problem?
