Hi, I've been online trying to figure out why my HTC Touch takes HOURS, and i mean literally HOURS (almost 8 hours now) trying to sync BACK my contacts from my desktop to my HTC. I have my backup stored in my computer. Everything else seems to get synchronized through such as calendar, media files, etc. I'm using Windows XP and the new Activesync version 4.x. I had to hard reset my HTC because its been running awfully slow for some reason that i still have no idea about (even AFTER i deleted several applications, worked fine after reset). After the hard reset, I tried syncing back my contacts but its been taking hours and after 3 days/3 times of trying to get it to complete, all i see is a bunch of "Unknowns" (in place of actual contacts) in my contact list on my HTC (btw, not once did it ever finish syncing). I looked on several forums and people are getting similar problems regarding activesync's inability to sync accurately with windows mobile 6 devices.

IF that doesnt help, where is the contacts backup file located at in my computer? is there a way i can just drag it onto my phone instead of syncing it? or maybe use another 3d party app to access that backup file and sync that file to my phone instead of using activesync?

I also have Palm Desktop which has another copy of my contacts from my past Treo 650 (old contacts). If i absolutely cannot access the new/updated contacts saved from my HTC (no idea where those files are located, just pluggd in my HTC and apparently it made a backup but dont know which folder on my comp its stored in), is there possibly a way i can migrate those old contacts from my Palm desktop to my HTC WITHOUT using Microsoft Outlook? The only thing ive tried so far was copy and pasting EACH contact one by one into my HTC and so far it it works but its a painstaking process. I tried exporting it all into a single .vcf file into my HTC but it doesnt seem to be recognized. But anyways, the FIRST paragraph is definitely a priority, ANY help, ideas, or advice is GREATLY appreciated with my utmost thanks!

I hope this helps - It's a simple fix however it worked for me as I couldn't establish a connection with activesync.
Start>settings>connections>usb to pc and be sure to have the "Enable advanced network functionality" box UNCHECKED.

Try to sync after that - I hope this helps.
