I setup my Gmail acct on my new HTC touch and it is trying to download 400 messages. I checked the settings and made sure it was set to "download messages from today only" but is still is trying to download all my old messages as well. How do I fix this? I would like it to check all my new messages but I don't want it constantly trying to download all my old stuff....

Thanks
Nick

I believe initially it will download the 400 headers but after downloading it will only display messages from today. Next time around it should download only the new. If it keeps trying to download all after letting it go through the first time then you need to adjust your Gmail settings from the Gmail website.

Wirelessly posted (AT&T 8525: HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Check your settings in desktop Gmail under "Forwarding ..."

yae check your setting on gmail.com and you should be all good after you make the corrections.

I don't see what option you're talking about. I set it up so it can only get pop mail from today and on and it still tried to grab 400+ messages. Do I need to let them all download like the first guy said?

yes, i had to do this also (let them all download first, make sure you aren't on your data connection ! :P)

Also you may want to look into Gmails IMAP service for mobiles instead of POP, it is now working (message bodies of html emails were not showing up, but they finally fixed it)

Make sure you first enable imap in your gmail settings as outlined in the link under item 1.
