I am going crazy here trying to find some info on Dualband GD55's here in HK..
I wanted to buy one for my GF's mom for her birthday, as she really liked my GD55...
However, HK now has a local GD55 that everyone carries (it goes for around $1200HKD new now, about $240 CAD / $160 USD). But I am getting varying info on whether the HK model is triband or dualband.
-Some people say the HK phones are ALL dualband, only the outside HK phones are ALL triband
-Some say that HK phones can be either dualband or triband, and outside HK phones are ALL triband
-Some say that BOTH phones can be EITHER dualband OR triband.
Of course the ****ing box doesn't give you ANY info. The only way to check would be to turn the phone on and go into the menu, since the GD55 only supports manual band switching... Unfortunately you will not find a store in HK that allows you to open boxes...
I guess I'll just try my luck in Mong Kok... I'm bound to find SOMEONE who knows SOMETHING!
But if anyone here has any info that'd be excellent.

OK luckily I found a store that had a demo phone (local HK) that I could look at.. The ones they sold are indeed triband, but I still don't know if they are all triband or not, because some people say some are dualband... Oh well, I got one for my GF's mom in time

I think they are dual band in HK and triband everywhere else. But I've never seen a dual band GD55. It's pretty much impossible to tell unless you actually turn on the phone and check the menu, yeah...good luck though

I never heard of a dual band GD55. Mine's triband, that much I know... Best thing to do would be to call Panasonic and ask them whether they produced a HK dual band model along with the regular world triband model.

All GD55 are dual band, but they have the function to be tri band

Actually, to be precise, the GD55 is singleband and dualband selectable.
