Car Mount for Kaiser

I'm looking at getting a Tilt, and I am looking for a docking station/mount that will work in my car. I would really like one that can charge as well as hold the phone. I have found some nice mounts, but they don't charge it, or even have a hole at the bottom so that you could charge it while it is in the mount. I have considered getting a normal home dock that is round and putting it in the cupholder. Does anybody have a round dock that they could comment on whether or not this would be feasible with the size?

It's not cup-holder based, but I use the mount from ProClip in my car. It doesn't have an integrated charger, but it certainly has the space to use the charger. Charging is just a wire out of the dash that goes into the charging port.

Clearly it's a better alternative than a dock stuck down in a cupholder somewhere, because you can see and use the phone pretty easily.

This is the one I got. The suction cup doesn't really work, but for a vent mounted one it works really well.

robbyb413,

How do you like that mount? I am looking at one of the console based mounts and was wondering what you thought of their quality?

TIA!

You can also check out Arkon. They carry a complete selection of powered and non-powered car mounts and cradles.

I think it's of sound quality. The mount itself, that attaches to the vent, is plastic but very well done and durable. The holder for the Tilt is god so far. Nice strong plastic, swivel feels sold and not sloppy. I'm satisfied.

However: The mount that I put in my GF's passat for her nav unit is not really the greatest. They really didn't do their R&D properly IMO, because the unit seems to orient the device slightly away from the driver. What I mean is that you would think the mount would tilt the device toward the driver or at least make it shore up with the dash, but this one reall seems to turn back toward the passenger ever so slightly. But I'm anal, so maybe nobody else notices this. Or I got a defective unit. If it were metal, like some other vendors produce, I could bend it to make up for that. Being plastic that isn't an option and that is disappointing.

I don't know who distributes them in canada. Proclip's products are made by Brodit. Their site is brodit.se ... go there and select canada and they will tell you where to buy.

I have a Santa fe and the console clip that ProClip sells would not fit on my car.

Has anyone ever seen or used the Arkon Cup Holder PDA Mount?

Anyone else have any other ideas?
