BJ1 WM6 Backlight Problem

I just recently updated to the WM6 ROM, but I'm having some issues. The backlight comes on about every 5 minutes for no reason. Is any one else having this problem?

I have the exact same issue. It's killing my battery life on the phone. It seems to stay on for quite awhile, also. Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you hit any keys? In WM6 ROM, you no longer have key lock like we have in WM5. Only Device Lock. And even the phone is locked, you will still be able to light it up by pressing any key.

Also, do you have Bluetooth connected?

I just upgraded and I have device lock as well as key lock. ???

What I do is for example: I go on IE to check a page. I hit end and go back to the homescreen. After the light goes out, it comes on randomly in a couple of minutes. It seems to be on for a while, then it goes away again after I hit end and leave it.

Bluetooth is not on. No new messages either.

Are you sure you're on WM6 ROM?

definately on WM6 - did not change the backlight setting from "anytime". When I lock the phone and press the keys or other buttons (immediately after loccking), the light does not come on. I let it sit locked and pressed the keys and the light did come on so I guess it is random. A mind of its' own??

The phone itself set on the bedside table last night (bluetooth is off) and went on numerous times throughout the night. Besides making a nice flashlight, this tends to be quite annoying. Also, it can't be helping my already short battery life.

The keypad backlight driver from BJ/BJII lights up in response to any activity whatsoever, be it push email checking, incoming mms/sms, a periodically run task (programs can set a task to run at xxxx interval, or when docked, etc.)

It shouldn't kick on when you've got absolutely nothing going on in the background, though. (You'd need to check the notification queue to make sure something's not set to run periodically)

I do have Good Mobile Messaging running push email so that could be causing the issue. I also notice that it comes on just before a text message comes in as well.

I just upgraded yesterday to the official AT&T WM6 ROM from WM5 and noticed my blacklight seemed to be on one time randomly last night as well...

I'll keep a watch on this....

The only real app I run is Good but I receive plenty of email on it and the back light doesn't seem to be activated because of that...

That's normal, even on the WM5 ROM (SMS light). I found that there is a second lag between the notification showing up on the homescreen and the actual Message Received sound.

I flashed my phone a few times, and it doesn't happen any more, even when pushing email, or programs accessing the internet.
