Deleting Mutliple Text Messages On T-Mobile Dash

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ive got text messages dating back to July of 06 on my dash. Well over 2000 text messages. When I go to the folders and tell it to clear text messages, I get the animated logo like its deleting them but just ends up freezing. I have tried plenty of times and at times gave it over an hour to delete them but it doesnt do anything. It just keeps playing that animation, and I have to turn the phone off and on, and none of the text messages are deleted when I turn the phone back on.

Is there a way to manually delete them while its connected to the computer or with a third party software. I tried some program Inbox expander or something of that sorts and it didnt work.

Any help is appricated.

can anyone help me?

Can you not delete them individually? Are you running WM5 or WM6?

Haha yep, I would suggest the "Clear Messages" but it seems you have a couple too many for the Dash to keep up with that process. Looks like you're stuck with deleting them yourself. Touch screen FTW, you can just highlight and drag to select more than one

I can delete them individually, but when I turn the phone on and off, they come back in the inbox

Thats pretty strange. Are they saved to your SIM?

nope they are saved on the phone... there has to be a way to do it while the phone is connected to the computer

That is unusual. I usually just go to the "text messages" folder, click "menu", click "clear text messages", then there is an alert prompt asking if i want to permanently delete the msgs in the folder.

Have you tried waiting for a bit considering you have so many msgs to delete. If not, try deleting it 1 by 1 for a bit and try deleting it all again.

Ive tried both. If I go to menu and clear the messages, I just get the animation over and over. I have let the phone sit for hours at a time with nothing. It pretty much freezes and I have to turn the phone on and off.

If I delete them one by one, when I turn the phone on and off, they come back. Pretty much like they were never deleted to begin with.

so im assuming no one has any ideas other than the ones mentioned?

if I do a hard reset will that clear them?

A hard reset would clear them. Usually a hard reset is no big deal as long as you still have your APP CAB files and you contacts etc backed up to Outlook.

I'm not 100% on this, but would something like SK Tools not give you the option?

Where can I get SK Tools and Ill give it a shot?
