Battery Charge Time

I just got my new HTC Touch and I let the Battery Drain until it shut down and plan to drain and re-charge a couple of times to train it. The manual, as well as most Specs, say it should take 4 hours to charge but mine is charging in about an hours time. Is it really fully charged? Should I let it charge the full 4 hours anyways? If it makes a difference, I am using the AC Adapter plug in charger.

Hey, I noticed that as well. It only takes an hour or less for the 100% charge to come through after being dead, yet the docs all say 3-4 hours. Good question!

Yes I notice this too, basicaly when the orange light turns to green it is fully charged.

It is a false reading as the battery is not fully conditioned and the phone will not be reading the battery properly as the meter may read the battery as fully charged but the battery itself may just have a surface charge enough to trigger the sensor.

You should keep it plugged in for a minium of 3 - 4 hours for the size of the battery. The bigger the battery the longer it takes to charge.

I've found that my mogul charges extremely fast when the power is off.

But yea ^ What he said

Yea I agree with the previous 2 people. Most of the time when the green light comes on, wether it is a camera battery, cell phone, ect. The battery is only charged about 80-90%!! So go ahead and leave it in for abt 3 hours to get max charge.

I also noticed that if you do a complete drain it/mine sits at 5% for about two hours then shuts down.

experience with different types of rechargeable batteries wither cell phone or computers.

the larger the battery the long it takes.

most batteries charge at the rate of 300 mA per hour at 5 A, so a 1300 mA battery takes about 4 hours to charge fully.
