Currently opening a new Verizon account and need a phone recommendation.
I need a phone that will allow me to call overseas and send/receive international sms from day one. VZW has a 90-day no-intl-allowed policy. Using a phone card would work, but texting is an important function I need to have access to. And a phone that handles voip programs like googletalk or skype would be great.
First off, are there any voip mobile programs that also support intl sms through a data connection (evdo/wifi)? I use skype mostly but the mobile version does not sms apparently.
I am looking at windows pdas or blackberry pearl. Does anyone have a really great combination of phone and service that they use for calling/txting overseas? Thank you!

Well I cannot speak for txt messaging over voip but most nokia's do have SIP clients meaning you can use a voip provider that supports SIP. WM also has several SIP Clients. Very easy to setup...and really cheap for int calls. I only do it over wifi, im sure it would work with edge as well.
