Am i Retarded?>

OK, I've had my phone for 4 months now and I've never noticed this, but I couldn't figure out how to add a new contact while speaking on the phone with someone. They told me the number, and I had no way to enter it while talking to them. Please tell me there is a way to do this. I figured i can go to notepad and enter it, but that's a pretty cheesy fix, especially since there is no cut and paste, and the number is a number to Zimbabwe including a calling card number and access code and extension with over 30 digits in all, quite difficult to memorize. (anyone ever seen fonejacker?>)

while in a call press the contacts button (next to the speaker phone button, turn on the speakerphone first obviously) and add the contact there. In going to try this right now just to verify that this is right.

Nevermind, all that let's you do is browse contacts! That's messed up!

Just press you home button, then go to contacts to add something, then back to phone to complete your call. Not the slickest way.. but it works.

You mean you can not talk and add a contact at the same time?

That won't work unless you have a jailbroken phone with the contacts application on the homescreen.

Holy crap! It can't be done! Talk about a basic missing feature!

It works for me... but yes,
I have the contacts app on my homescreen

LOLOL!!! Classic.

Wow.

I haven't had to do this yet, but I just took the contacts app off my hidden list. Good call (pun shamefully intended).

How did it take 7 months to figure this out? I guess it must not be that big of a feature after all!

Don't mean to hijack. but I was appalled to find out about a month in that you cannot search in the ipod feature.

What? What are you trying to find? There's an artist list, a song list, an album list, a composer list, what else would you like to search for that you can't find?

Or do you mean like search for a portion of a title, like type in "love" and find all songs/albums/etc. that contain the word "love", rather than begin with the word "love"?

how to create new contact during call:

speakerphone on > touch 'add call' > touch 'keypad' > enter number > touch 'add contact' > touch 'create new contact' > voilà!

just how many songs do you have with the word "love" in the title?

Do you have to do it while you're speaking? I normally just do it after I hang up by going to Recent calls , click on the blue arrow and then choose create new contact or add to contacts. I mean as long as I don't have to write it down.

Read the first post please.
The whole point is to add a number while in call.

And yes its a included feature.
Hit "show keypad" (dialpad...whatever apple calls it) enter number and hit contacts....like you would with any other phone.

I’ts an available feature and this is how you go about doing it: While on a call hit the “add Call” than when prompted to “All contacts” on the bottom select “Keypad” enter the number, once done on the left of the “Call” key select the add contact key and there you go!

Hope this helps

that's not very intuitive!
