Created ringtone through iTunes, very lound and rattling phone's speaker

I created a ringtone through iTunes (actually made the song from the iPhone commercial my ringtone ~ Perfect Timing). Everything went smoothly. The only complaint I have is that now I have this ringtone on my iPhone, and I can only afford to have the ringer volume at not even half the bars. The ringtone, when turned up to a certain point, will emit a sound that sounds like I'm stressing the speaker, or worse, that I've busted it. I can go to the default ringtones on the phone (Marimba, Bark, etc.) and turn them up to full volume without issue.

I've played the ringtone back through iTunes and it works/sounds great. Is there a way to lower the volume of a created ringtone, or is anyone else getting this issue with their created ringtones?

I'm having same problem with custom ringtones.

in iTunes use the get info command and lower the volume of the file a couple of db.

mine does it as well. Come to think of it, when I play the iPod portion of it through the speaker, it sounds the same way.

Use Goldwave to lower the bass of the ringtone! Works so good on mine. No more static-sounding ringtones.

Yep, that helps. It's a design side effect of the speaker itself as it has a lot lower bass tolerance at high volumes than headphones.

I'd also suggest lowering the bass when you use the iPod app (Settings app--->iPod--->EQ---->Bass Reducer) and keep from using other EQ settings (like ones you set specifically by song in iTunes) and use Sound Check to keep individual song volumes level.
