I've only had my touch for a week, so at first I thought I was doing something wrong. Reassuring that at least some other people are having similar problems. I'll try taking out the 2 GB storage card and see if that helps. Nice to at least find a suggestion.

I have been having the same exact problems...I took it to an Alltel store yesterday. Just happens the manager of the store has this phone and has been having the same issues. She recommended having Alltel send me a new one and sending mines back to the manufacturer for repairs. However, she advised that since I had a few minor scratches on mines from an occassional fall or two that they might refuse to repair it and state that the problems are related to customer abuse. She said she knows there's a glitch out there so we went ahead and started this process. I am waiting for my new phone. If they refuse to fix it then she states we will file it under my insurance which means a $55 deductible. This is horrible because it will likely happen again until they fix this glitch. I love the phone and its features, but can't take the missed calls as I use this phone for business purposes and lose out on many business opportunities. |

Sometimes the touch screen still won't work, the phone won't answer, or what is even more frustrating is that the phone won't ring until I take it out of "standby" mode (pushing the power button to go from dark screen to light) and it will immediately ring, and show a missed call. Regardless of when the person called it will show as though I just missed the call, but the call actually happened sometime ago even at times a few hours ( I called myself to see). Anybody have ideas?

I can't imagine what causes it for some and not for others. Do you sync to your PC? |

The first week I got the phone it would regularly cut off and and or lock up. Upon calling Alltels high tech support I was told it's a known Glitch/Bug with this phone while using a Bluetooth device. Not a huge deal as it can be fixed by simply performing a "soft reset". I have to soft reset my phone at least 5 times a day. A much larger and far more irritating problem began about three days ago when I noticed the phone not ringing that much. While checking to make sure I had everything set correctly I also decided to check my voicemail. Turns out I had 8 messages and the phone had been on me the whole time. After trying several things myself and still having just about all incoming calls go straight to voicemail I decided to call Alltels High Tech Support again. Turns out I am told there is another known Bug/Glitch with not only this phone but also with the HTC Touch as well. According to the folks at Alltel this has been going on for about 4 weeks now and HTC of course is working on a patch. Any incoming call I get goes straight to voicemail unless the backlight for the screen is on. I have that set to stay on as long as possible but that is only 10 minutes if plugged in 5 if not. It's so pathetic it's actually funny, this phone truly want even ring and there is no current fix I am told. These are only my experiences with this phone. Are others having this problem as well? Does anyone else know of any known fixes for these problems? If you don't mind soft setting your phone 5 times a day and then missing 90% of your calls than this phone is great. I still don't understand how I couldn't find any bad information about the HTC PPC6800 before I bought it. Before you buy the PPC 6800 or the touch I would find out about these isues. Mike |
She shipped me a new phone and I synched the old one to my computer then put it in the box and shipped it back to Alltel. I then synched the new phone to my pc to transfer my data from the old phone to it. Our plan was to attempt to have Alltel either repair or replace my original phone without billing me for damages which the Manager said they will do if it seems that the outer casing of the phone has scratches on it. So, best advise is keep it in its case as much as possible to avoid scrapes from falls. However, if Alltel refused we were gonna file it on my insurance and I would pay the $55 deductible for the 2nd phone that I got. It worked out that Alltel has thus far paid for the second phone. I have found that deleting your call history list does help a little with the 'missed' call issue. This was suggested to me by the same store manager who also had the same phone and told me about a few workarounds that she used to solve her problems.
