Over 200 MB of "Other" after soft-upgrade to 1.1.3 - how do I get rid of it???

Hey guys,

I used this guide to jailbreak 1.1.3:
http://guides.macrumors.com/Upgradi...iPhone_to_1.1.3

Now in iTunes I see over 200 MB of "Other" data, and I'm somewhat wondering whether the soft-upgrade left a bunch of junk (including perhaps the 1.1.3 ipsw) behind.

Anyone know how to get rid of the excess stuff?

Thanks
-Marc

I have a large amount of "other" as well, and I have no clue what it is?!

I have this same problem... before the update i had 20mb of OTHER...after the update it went to around 400mb... the soft update cleaner only managed to get rid of some of it... I still have 200+MB in there... any ideas?

I went in the menu for safari and cleared history cookies and cache and it dropped the amount of "other" on iTunes.

Marc,

I just found out this is a bug with 1.1.3, and is not related at all to the current jb method.

It is normal. The reason I know this btw is because when I personally did the upgrade via itunes to get the new bb, it reported (after a clean upgrade) 202mb of other in itunes.

After the jb, it reported 212mb (so it's close) and functioning perfectly. I even fixed my time zone issue.

Does anyone know if this is still a bug in 1.1.4 and/or iTunes 7.6.1.9?

Thanks

Maybe it just accurately shows the amount of 3rd party software you have installed on your phone?

If you upgrade to 1.1.4 with itunes 7.6.1 FRESH your other will be around 200mb.

This has been tested by me. After installer and some apps, really no big difference.

Hope this helps.

ALSO... if you have 7.5 itunes it shows 30mb; same phone... Hmmm

It's still a 'bug' as of 1.1.4 and iTunes 7.6.1[.9 is windows I assume].

The 'General--->about' shows the same thing as iTunes w.r.t. amount of free space remaining.
