Hey everyone!
Cgeck out my new 24 KARAT Gold housing for my Nokia 8860, and I also installed new Hyper White LEDs in the phone.
Looks sooooo much better!
And the LEDs are so bright, at night you could see the whole room.
Sorry for the pics quality.. The phone looks much better in real life.
What do u think?? U like it?

Ya.....nice!!

Question.............was it very difficult?? I've got a new chrome set on the way and I think I can work my way thru it but wanna know if there are any tricks/concerns during disassembly/reassembly.

P.S. If you can..........please take another pic of the finished product. Looks like you moved when you took the last pic.

Thanks!

I know you won't believe me, and I was surprised too, but the new housing is a little lighter then the chrome one.
At least it feels like that (may be cause its new).

Doin' it:
The dissassambly and reassambly of the phone is soo easy. There were absolutely no tricks in doin it. Replacing the led's thats a bit harder, cause you gotta check if you placed them the right side.

Here are some better pics of the phone:

Damn the lights are bright!!! Have never seen any leds that are this bright!!!

Posted by: Dooin' it

And are those LED's "bridged"???

If they aren't & you bridge them later, you might consider some welding glasses!! LOL!!

Posted by: JAL_FOREVER

I don't think they are bridged.
I just replaced the factory ones, and increased the brightness a bit...
Hopefully it doesn't take too much of my battery...
If it does, it is worth it

Nice, I wonder how well the gold housing will hold up to scratches, compared to the original gold housing, I hope it's a lot more durable.

Posted by: Dooin' it

Do you mean compared to the chrome??

Anyway, I finally put all new housing on last night. (sheesh, what a nail-biter.) I kept the back portion as it has the vibrating motor, battery contacts, backup battery & some other stuff in it. (The battery contacts on the upper portion didn't want to come out, so since the back's still in descent shape, I just re used it 'til I opt to buy a new battery.)

I don't know how the heck you guys mess with soldering the led's. Them suckers are soooooooooooooo friggin' tiny!!!

Anyway, here's the finished product............

P.S. I also don't know who did the conversion (I'll try to find out) but EVERYTHING works. The vibrating motor, slide-to-answer/hangup. It all works. I don't know why some of these people on ebay say that the conversion costs the loss of vibrate. Mine works just fine.

Nice job...
The phone looks nice!
So shiny... and the lights so bright...
Almost like mine, hehehe

Posted by: Dooin' it

Well, sorta'............I'm only missing a couple-hundred-thousand candlelight of power compared to yours! he he!

Posted by: cy88

how much you guys picked up the housing and lights for? I want to change mine too, thanks.

Posted by: JAL_FOREVER

I got 24 Karat Gold Housing for around 85 CAD, and the LED's are around 20 CAD (there is 12 of them).
So its not that cheap
But i think it is worth it
