Yep. That's what my 6500 slide is for lol.

So far the n905i is doing pretty well keeping up functionality. I don't really use BT anyway and I textmessage all day long so the t9 saves me so much time lol

johnmoon was right about the n905i being super stable. I haven't got a single out yet and I've been through many non reception areas I would previously sometimes have problems with the sh905i with.

... long story short.. i bought through my exgf.. which is getting it from a guy in hongkong... which sold me the phone 3 weeks ago, paid upfront 390CDN... but is still unable to get it from japan due to customs... as they say. The guy from hk will transport it personally ... on a plane to avoid customs.. and she is also getting a SO905iCS in pink.

Yep Devil May Cry looks great on the big screen! The only problem is that the controls aren't great. I think you can change them but I never bothered to try.

f00tzilla: Almost there! Make sure the postal guy isn't lazy and just leaves a slip on your door without knocking. That happened to me with the sh905i.

Someone I need help with my future hypersim, ordered at the inex guy on ebay. He did sent me a procedure for installing the hack but I cant understand a thing of his english. Copy/paste of procedure :
1.Put to go into a generally market-available cellular phone after combining your SIM card and the Hypersim card first(NOKIA MOTOROLA SONY..)
Obtain a signal...The message that remembers that the confirmation appears all of a sudden isn't the model number that you want(as the P905 is or SH905 i etc.)
If want to choose after OUT an auto heavy switch on to search a signal to press the confirmation
If want to choose OUT successor to move and then press to return or don't press...Be namely come moving mode
Had better stir again a talk on the phone and receive a talk on the phone...
2.After willing combine good SIM card to take out a generally market-available cellular phone.In put into the department cellular phone in day..Cut over cellular phone into GSM...
3.Cellular phone at GSM mode the bottom cut over 3 Gs.Can make image telephone call to go out as usual but can't

HAHAHAHAH

1. Stick the hack to your SIM and put the whole shebang in a non-Japanese, unlocked phone. Get signal.
2. Put it in your DoCoMo phone. Set it to GSM-only mode.
3. If you lose the signal and it doesn't come back, repeat steps 1 and 2.

Other than that, I don't have a flippin' clue what the guy is saying...hahaha

I am going to keep this write up independent of model number and just call the phone you have 905i which refers to the series.

All you need to do is cut your sim card, put the hypersim on. It's like a sticker.

Then put it in a regular phone and use it for a day or two. Then take out the sim card with the hypersim still applied and put it in 905i phone your using. Voila, it will pick up a signal.

I recommend keeping a spare phone on you the first week or so. If the 905i phone loses signal and doesn't regain it even when rebooting, you need to put the simcard into the spare to regain the signal.

Worst case scenario, if it doesn't regain the signal, you will have to take the sim card and hypersim apart carefully, put the sim in the spare phone to regain the signal. You can then take out the sim card, put the hypersim back on and test.

This happened to me a few times in the beginning but now everything is running nice and smooth. Even when I get signal drops, the phone picks the 905i phone picks up the signal again.

I pieced this together from my experience with my hypersim and sh905i and n905i.

Sorry if this has been stated already, I've been away. But just talked to the iNEX guys and they do have an official hypersim just for P905i, but apparently the installation is a little more difficult.

Hyper256/Inex 804sh works amazing..no out..no nothing..

on a 64k rogers(3040/4000)
nothing works

for my SO905ics
fido 32k..noting works

rogers 64ksims
hyper256/inex804sh works amazing...

****ing pissed...hahahahaha

My cheap NextSIM in the P905i is still alive and kicking after a few days. Had to go through subway twice a day...and so far still no out.

I duno if it is my luck or just the fact that it works really with with T-Mo....

1. Correct, works great
2. Stable so far no drops at all
3. For UI, I like N and F both they have their own unique style
4. It is made of plastic but japanese plastic (nice tough if you know what i mean lol) large keypad like the touch

Yeah, usually that kind of lighting is characteristic to white phones only.

Which is why I got the white version. All other ones have lighting through the character etching only... white ones have it translucent

What's U0.2?

oh shoot, i just realized something. the black and Blue SH905i has their numbers transparent so that the backlighting can shine through it. however on the white one, the keypads back lighting lits up the entire key and not just them number!

but thats if you go for the white color. i personally dislike the whites outter design (a bit too girly for me)

but yeah, the keypad's lights tend to be a bit yellow whereas the directional pad is more of a white-white color!

- This UIM cannot be recognized

OR

- Please insert UIM ??

When I put the Hyper256+sim into the phone, it gives me Please insert UIM, but when I put just the sim card, it says This UIM cannot be recognized...

yes its so awesome u can choose colours. and patterns as well.. mine is set on gradient and fast so people that look at it will have an epileptic seizure lol .. seriously its like pokemon all over again

i didn't buy a p905i specific hypersim, i just tried the one i have for my 920SH, but it does not work...

markol, I am not sure if the China 3GPP was made for P905i, but the seller (in Japan) claimed that it worked with Softbank and O2 SIM cards.

Nope I am returning the China 3GPP to the seller. Not sure what to try next as I couldn't find much posts from at&t users with P905i on the internet.

how do you guys like using the various navigation controls?

F's square dpad
N's round thing
SH's mousepad / round dpad
SO's scroll wheel?

do you guys feel that any of the surrounding buttons get in the way when using the navigation? My D900 right now i have problems telling which part of the dpad I'm pressing down on and will also sometimes hit a surrounding key since they're so close to each other...

The F's ringing status looks so awesome! The screen swivel is actually looks cooler than I thought too lol.

the N actually has a cursor thing in the middle of the navigational pad

Yea, I like it way better than my sh905i. It's just so natural since it's always right under your thumb instead of the sh905i touchpad where you have to reach up.

The nub is like a cross between the ibm thinkpad one and a psp analog nub.

Sugo, I can confirm for you that the new 3GPP sim hack and also the new Inex hypersim for p905i do not work with any AT&T sim card (have tried many different at&t sim cards). I am just as stressed as you, on paper it should be completely fine seeing as AT&T in the US is the most likely carrier to work with these phones. Also the phone I am using now Softbank 705px works perfectly with inex hypersim on AT&T, so I don't know what the problem is with the new sim hacks for p905i.

U0.2 is my label number for my fido sim, which I think is the new model sim for fido. I tried pss sim for 920sh and hypersim 256 on 2 x U0.2 fido sim cards and both showed Unable to recognize UIM. Then I tried the pss sim for 920sh on a SM32, it worked (but its not my sim card

),then on a M32 , did not work as well

My Summary on Sh905i:

U0.2 + pss sim for 920sh = not compatible
U0.2 + hypersim 256 = not compatible
SM32 + pss sim for 920sh = compatible
M32 + pss sim for 920sh = not compatible

I did not try the hypersim 256 on SM32 and M32 simply because the huge black IC chip pushes the sim card slot down in a agressive manner, and personally, I don't really want to damage my sh905i in anyway

Just to clarify, from kuro regarding the Hypersim and wtf "training" is:

And finally a well put-together explanation:

the inex804/pss-sim worked beautifully on his 3030 plugged into a sh905
3040/4000 also works on sh905

it also works beautifully on so905ics...

only the p905 didnt work
but it worked with m32/st32/sm32 fido sims...

Take your SIM card out, and check the third row of numbers. Half of my third row is gone because I had to make space for the SIM hack, but I see "40".

You can't. It's a security feature so that you can't take pics without people not noticing. Sound + light = less perversions lol

Where'd you get your smartxxx 2008? Did you have to "train" it on a non-Jap phone and are you getting any dropped signal that doesn't come back?

Theres the original use of the light for taking pics (w/e its reason is)

and the latent function of that light is being a security feature as KKB said XD

Damn, no 'perversions'...

I got the SIM hack locally in Toronto, they claim its the final version with all bug iron out but the SIM looks like the china3pp one with smartxxx 2008 word printed on. The price was $100 and I didn't do the break in/train, so far signal is strong and always comes back when signal dropped.

100 cnd for the thing locally is okay I guess......since a hypersim + shipping is around the same cost and the best part of buying it locally is we don't have to wait =D and if the shop is nice they might even let you test it before buying lol

I just noticed something really cool.

For the n905i, when you receive a textmessage on the external screen and when you open the phone an icon of different things like a heart, an ok sign, a question mark etc. shows up.

The way it decides on what icon is used depends on the words in the text message.

I got a text from my gf today saying I love you and it showed an icon of a heart on the screen. Another one was my friend asked me a question with a question mark at the end and the icon was a question mark. Yet another example was someone responded OK to me and it the icon was an OK sign.

I tested it out too sending a text to myself saying that I love me and it showed a heart again haha

Not sure about menus in the p905, but there should be a setting to manually put the SMS centre gateway number. It's looks like a telephone number. It should be posted in the Rogers forum FAQs.

Your SMS Center number should say DoCoMo if you haven't edited the settings. You gotta change it to the Rogers SMS Center number: +17057969300

It was the sh905i. I just sold him mine like an hr ago lol I miss it already with all the cool lights and the screen

We tested it out with both our sims + hypersim. It worked with my inex 804sh + SM32 fido card but not with his inex + rogers sim combo. He got a UIM not recognized error. We were both wondering if it is a sim card issue.

I got the black Docomo SH905i and the dotted silver for Softbank 920sh from Ebay. In my opinion they are just about even in features...multimedia for SH905i, but the 920sh have the advantage of having a bluetooth and a larger/clearer screen. I guess you can't have 'em all.

Any wired headphones or headphone adapters for DoCoMo FOMA, SoftBank/Vodafone Japan or KDDI au phones will work. They're all the same. For wireless ones, any BT headphones will work.

hmmm from my understanding the U0.2 Doesn't work AT ALL.
I tested it on a SM32 Fido simcard.. it works. but remains OUT... probably because the simcard isn't active.

lol i went to wireless wave and got a 3040 simcard. LOL like wow.. i didn't think they would have one. but they said they aren't sure if they had activated it before or not.. sigh. testing now.

Ok. So I got my SH905i today and my sim hack.

First I put my Cingular branded (new AT&T network) 64k G3 SIM into the SH905i - The screen then said "UIM unknown". I'm assuming the UIM means SIM? I never heard that acronym before.

Then I put the simhack onto the SIM card and put it back into my Nokia phone. After a delayed start, it asked to auto search network with YES/NO for an answer. I chose YES and my Nokia functioned normally.

I then put the sim/hack into the SH905i and now it says "Insert UIM" instead of "UIM unknown".

So....could anyone pin point me as to wether the issues is the sim-hack or my actual sim?

Try NextSIM...Its the SIM-hack. I had bunch of problem with PSS_SIM with my T-Mo cards.

Try get the signal first on a different phone with just the SIM card. Then put the SIM hack on and try it again.

It will show network for a few second because it is detecting it but the network was unable to authneticiate your SIM. You need to let the SIM get the TMSI??! code first before it will work.

Thanks for the quick reply. Ah, didn't think about that - using another sim-hack. This pss_sim I was trying I just bought on ebay and it was not cheap ($99) - it was supposed to be the "new - updated" version to help prevent the dropped calling issue.

Having a tough time finding any place that sells the nextSIM item - any chance someone could point me in the right direction? Thanks

4000 works only with hyper256.
it rejects anything fido...xept st32

p905i accepts all fido, but u0.2

1. The phone sometimes automatically restarts when SIM authentication is needed for some program.

I got rid of my hypersim since it drop signal on my SH905i like every 2 days. Been using China3GPP's product and so far (5 days and counting...) no drop signal so far on both SH905i/P905i....

Been reading for a week or so and I ended up buying a gold P905i from ebay(lol.dqn) and the new and improved inex hypersim for P905i. They both arrived today hence couldn't contain myself and had to get it working.

I am on AT&T network in US and I happen to have a work phone which is T-Mobile.

To cut a long story short. I spent all day from 11am till now just past midnight to get them working and I was finally able to, however, only on T-Mobile's network.

1st I tried the combined SIM (Cingular's 64k smartchip) + hypersim on my unlocked V3 phone. Powered up got signal (got message Auto Network P905i, ignored it) made and received phone calls. Then i transferred the chip to P905i, on boot I get "UIM not recognized". Repeated the same with AT&T's newer 3G chip, exactly the same error. Went back and forth between V3 and P905i however, to no avail. Hypersim's glue is almost done!
Then I had the idea of doing the same with T-Mobile's SIM, it worked on the 1st try.

So in conclusion the new inex.hypersim does not work with AT&T's network. I am an old cingular customer hence had an old cingular chip(1st attempt), however even that doesn't work. I really don't want to use my work phone for this so if anybody has got the P905i working with AT&T with any sim hack please let me know.

I forgot to order the charger hence couldn't really enjoy it for long, just enough to see it work right in the end!

AH i've noticed this too, the hypersim seems to fluctuate in reception. Going from 3 bars to no bars.. way to randomly.

Can the China3GPP work with the U0.2 sim? .. i was thinking about buying it

have you thought about trying another sim card hack like one of the cheaper china3gpp or hypersim256 with your att sim card? I've used inex 128 for softbank/vodafone on att with a 64k 3g sim (before the fireball) and havent had any issues. I gues I'll end up keeping my old sim card then no matter how bad it looks

This the EXACT same case I have w/ my SH905i. Old Cingular customer under new AT&T service. Same SIM 64k G3. Same hyperism. Same no UIM error. I ordered the cheapy $30 hyperism off ebay yesterday and it's on its way. I've been told that one might work. I'll know in a few days once it arrives. If it does, great! If not, I'll try the last hyperism that I've seen which sells for about $66. It's really a guessing game!

I tried China3GPP's card with AT&T SIM today (The 3G one that has the fireball pic) and it does not work at all on P905i. It worked on 920sh but not the DoCoMo.

It however works with eveyone of my T-Mobile cards and all of my DoCoMo phones....

lol.. i swear.. PSS-SIM works for Docomo.. but not very well.
My ex-gf used her China3GPP in my phone.. and had full signal.. but when i use my
SM32 Fido Prepaid + PSSSIM- i only get 1 bar. 2 bars.. sometimes rarely 3.

and.. i'm only 3 floors away from a Rogers Wireless cellphone tower. lol

aw614, syntheticmatrix - Shihx79 confirms that the cheaper hack(China3GPP) will work for other models on the new 3g(fireball) att SIM except docomo P905i. I guess P905i is a tricky lil beast. AFAIK there is no solution(confirmed by users on this forum) out there for P905i on att. I guess I'll wait a couple of weeks and see if anything new pops up on the market else I'll just go with inex256(apparently singapore hardware zone reports its a fake) or inex128 as aw614 has suggested.
