I recently debranded my AT&T w580 to the HK version, but whenever I plug it in to my usb port it detects it and I can charge my phone and select file transfer and stuff, but when I do select file transfers the phone does not show up as a storage device in my computer and I cant figure out how to send / copy stuff to and from my phone besides using bluetooth. Another thing I noticed is that when I unplug the usb connection, my computer starts loading real slow and programs like AIM and firefox keep freezing.

One other thing is that after debranding it I noticed that the quality of the camera went down, there seems to be more noise, is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks in advance

That was a problem with the w580 I think. Do you have a memory card? With a memory card the file transfer thing works perfectly. When trying to copy directly to the phone's memory, it just doesn't work for some reason.

Does it not work even if you choose "Phone Mode" and then browse to the phone folders from under My Computer -> Sony Ericsson File Manager ? (assuming you have installed the software that comes with the phone)

And yes, it seems if you don't insert a memoery card in the phone, it kind of slows down the system.

no i dont have a memory card maybe thats why it doesnt work...

but that still doesnt explain why a lot of my programs dont run after i unplug my phone and it causes my computer to slow down and programs like msn and aim to freeze. I cant even shut down my computer, it gets stuck at saving settings.

Windows is still waiting for "explorer.exe" to look for that missing memory card
