Getting pictures off a RAZR

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

If I can get a cable for a RAZR, do I need anything else to get the pictures off of it and on to a computer? Is there some software needed, or is it just a USB device?

Motorola Phone Tools is the software you will need. Or you could send them via MMS, or Bluetooth.

I don't have to pay for it do I? Should it have come with the phone? I put away the box and stuff a long time ago.

You will probably have to pay for it. It did not come in the box. There are plenty of Moto's out there. I'm sure it would be easy for you to find the software. We sell them for $25 or so, but you may be able to find it cheaper or even free!

That sounds like a big ripoff, if you get a camera phone but you have to pay extra to do anything with the pictures. Does it even works with Macs?

My old Samsung ZX-20 has free software for it, but I did have to 'pay' for Moto Software.
I think with Bluetooth and drivers, you can offload the images w/o requiring Moto Phone Tools.
Some CDMA devices (typically Verizon's) were much more restrictive than this, in that they blocked the bluetooth profiles (which were part of the phone's original spec) to make money off music/picture transfers.
I had to use Bitpim to get pictures off my parents Bell Mobility (Canada) phones.

You buy a phone to talk on therefore most don't come with data cables, software, memory cards, etc. to transfer your photos.

You buy a camera for pictures therefore they come with data cables, software, memory cards etc, so you can transfer your photos.

These are called accessories!

Did the microwave you bought come with the food already in it?

It's advertised as a camera phone. No, my microwave didn't come with food, but they didn't advertise it as being able to defrost and then say I have to pay $25 extra to buy "defrosting software" to actually make that feature work.

Most cameras are USB devices, this one uses a USB cable, and one assumes it's a USB device like everything else in the world. It's not as if extra software is somehow required for any reason other than that they deliberately ****ed it up.

Seriously, my relative bought this as a camera phone, was told it could take pictures and you could print them out and stuff. He haws been lied to.

he hasnt been lied to. you can still print them if you want. you just need accessories that are not included.

the fact of the matter is, its a phone first and a (crappy novelty) camera second. you cant expect it to work like a digital camera.

you can use bluetooth without any extra software. you just need a bluetooth capable computer, pair them, and send them over.

First off, which razr is this? Secondly, if your mac has bluetooth, should be able to pair up and send them to them from the phone. On my PC, i could browse the phones folders over bluetooth on my v3xx.

if you have a memory card, and this is the v3xx, you should be able to copy the files over to the mem card. Afterwards when you plug the v3xx into a PC, at least, it just pops up as a regular mass storage device and installs drivers for it, then you can browse everything on its memory card, pretty neat.

if you have a V3, then sucks to be you, should buy a new phone :P. (just joking around) However you still should be able to bluetooth.

What you can also do is. EMAIL your Pictures One by One in a MESSAGE [MMS]. thats what did to get them off my V3. thats only if you have a messaging package.
