Using ATT BB sim in my iphone: voice mail question

This question is to other ATT users...
I have a BB phone with a BB calling plan. I also use a stock iphone.
Is there any other way to check voice messages other than just looking at the missed call counter on the iphone when I have my sim in there, since the phone doesnt alert to new VM without visual vm urned on.
How are you handling this if you have a similar situation?

There will be a blank badge present when you have a new voicemail on the phone icon. Pressing the voicemail icon in the phone menu with a non-VVM provisioned account will just make the iPhone call your voicemail.

I am not getting a blank badge. Just a missed call badge.
