Opera browser on BJ2. Install questions/info...

I do not like IE on my BJ2.

Is it Opera Mobile or Mini needed?

Is it straightforward to install directly from the device (not from he PC)? How?
Do I need to install/run other appsd first, like unlocking apps or Java stuff?

Are there java permission issues on every web page?

Opera MINI is used for dumb phones with no other ability to install apps. Its a java app.

Opera Mobile is for smartphones running Windows Mobile such as your BJ2.

The java permissions you speak of will ask permission on every DATA TRANSMISSION, which is usually per page (download session). To get around this simply install the Mobile version that is designed for your phone.

Alternatively if you are really set on Opera Mini... you can install another java environment like IBM J9, which won't have those reoccurring permission questions.

I do not want to pay for a browser so I was hoping to install Opera Mini on my BJ2.
I went to opera.com on my mobile and selected the mini version but got a message that it could'nt detect my type of phone.
Can I still download/install it?
Will opera mini run without any hacks or installing anything else?
Will I have jave permissions issue on every web page?

Opera Mobile is much better than PIE; you can download and try it for free for 30 days. I'm waiting for Skyfire, however:

Are there java issues with the Opera Mobile (which is not free)?
Would i need to install anything else like a program to allow installing apps to
your phone (i.e. an application unlocking program for the BJ2)?

Will the upcoming Skyfire or Firefox mobile browsers have java issues as well?

Opera Mobile is not a Java application. There are no nag screens. Also, Opera Mini and the Skyfire browsers use a proxy server, so your traffic is handled by a third party before reaching it's destination - something I'm not crazy about.

So Opera Mini is java and Opera Mobile is not?

With Opera Mobile do I still need to install an
"Application Unlocking" utility to install 3rd party
programs.

I installed Live Search and Google maps with no problems.

I definitely do not like the proxy server of Skyfire. This is a big privacy issue!
