W370-Tracfone-bricked after wrong charger?

Hello,
I accidently plugged my Tracfone W370 into our camera charger ( with an output of 1 AMP ) . The phone would not power up afterwards, but I swapped the battery with our second W370 and it powers up but stays at "searching for network" then displays "charging" while not connected to the charger. Unable to place or receive any calls with the phone. My expiration date and "minutes remaining" information is still intact but it appears the phone was obviously damaged from the increased amperage.
Is there anyway to recover the phone or has it been permanently damaged? Thanks for your help.

The problem isn't so much going to be the amperage. It's the voltage and polarity. After that, the amperage of the adapter will dictate how much damage is done. With as much flash memory as phones use now, there may not much you can do to reset it, assuming the problem is only software. When you talk power supplies, it's more likely the hardware fried.
