Sharp 920SH (SoftBank) General Tips and FAQ

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: riel

fresh out of the box, plastic still in place

This thread will help those who would like to learn more about this phone. Some of the information here was found on the Sharp forum, and some I found myself. Credits to KBoardBox, martindesu, Junglizt1210 for the information. Now let’s get to it!

General:
110.6 x 50 x 18mm
123g
Supports microSD, up to 2GB. I am currently using a Kingston branded one.
50MB internal memory
3.2" Sharp AQUOS VGA

How to get the 920SH to work outside Japan:
Popular choices are the PSS-SIM and HyperSIM, both uses the iNEX HS128 chip, which fools the phone into thinking your SIM card is from SoftBank. 920SH uses the triband GSM network 900/1800/1900.
Proven to work with Rogers and Fido.

What works as of now? (February 6, 2008):
Calling
SMS
Bluetooth
Basic phone functions (calendar, alarm, etc.)

What has not been unlocked as of now? (February 6, 2008):
Camera, internet, TV, Media Player, S!, Yahoo! Keitai, eBook Keitai

How to conserve battery life if you’re in the GSM network, typically North America:
Menu -> Network Settings -> Select Service -> Manual -> GSM

Ideal wallpaper size:
480 x 854 pixels vertically
854 x 480 pixels horizontally

Ringtones:
MMF format, no MP3
Under 300KB
See Junglizt1210's Ringtone Making thread

How to send a 160-character SMS as opposed to the default 70-character SMS:
Menu -> Messaging -> Settings -> SMS Settings -> Char-code -> GSM 7bit

How to get rid of the briefcase icon (roaming):
Turn the phone off, then turn it back on

How to activate the torch light:
Close the phone -> Hold external circle button

Where can I get a 920SH?
Try ebay.com and Yahoo! Auctions Japan

Feel free to add to the list, or post questions here =)

MP4 ringtones also work...
although i haven't been able to make my own work.. cuz i'm missing something... but i've tried using mp4s that other people have made and it is confirmed to work as ringtones!

Posted by: KBoardBox

You can also scroll through different displays in the external display by repeatedly pressing the cancel button on the side.

All the S! applications don't work.. like S! Town, S! Loop, etc.

Mini gallery, taken righhht after unboxing:

I'll post more pictures of it if anybody's interested, with the plastic off and all. Enjoy!

Feel free to request pictures of it taken at different angles, or anything specific you'd like to see

i have a question
im new to softbank i dont or havent own any

and i was passing by ebay and just got hooked on this phone
i want to buy it

''What has not been unlocked as of now? (February 6, 2008):
Camera, internet, TV, Media Player, S!, Yahoo! Keitai, eBook Keitai''

so i cant play music, video and take pictures right?
will these features be unlocked in the future?
and for the hypersim card
if those features get unlocked will i need to buy another hypersim card?

also can you post a pic of the menu?

thanks

If you want everything to work you may be better off waiting for the SX862 and buying htat. It's supposed to come out in March, and it's the Smartone-Vodafone version of this phone.

I just realised... HK is using the same TV system for analog (PAL-I) and also digital (DMB-T/H, same as the new China-only system)

This means that this variant could be used (and therefore, possibly sold, although under a different model name) in China.

Anyone else agree?

oh thanks
does the sx862 look the same as the 920sh
i couldnt find any pic on google..

Posted by: martindesu

It's not released yet. Read around more carefully...

Posted by: riel

I won't be home for awhile to take pictures of the menu for you, but in the meantime you could look up "920SH" on YouTube and there'll be videos that should show it.

If that doesn't work lemme know, and I'll get pics for you ASAP =)

Posted by: yoosanlicious

i know it hasnt been released what i meant is
when cellphone are coming soon..they should have some preview pics no?

thanks riel i found some menu pics

Posted by: KBoardBox

No actual pics of it exist yet, other than those filing diagrams and the Jap 920SH, which is really the same thing cosmetically.

Hi,

I was wondering how the custom ringtones sound on this phone? I'm using the 903SH right now and the one thing I don't like about it is that the ringtones are just TOO QUIET!

Thanks!

920SH ringtone volume is much louder than 903SH
Its pretty loud like Samsung phones, no mp3 ringtones though
has to be in mmf format (MA7, so the quality is very close to MP3)

Thank you very much for your reply. That's exactly what I wanted to know

I really don't like the quiet ringtone volume on the 903SH and I'm hoping that if I buy a 920SH, that the speakers are significantly louder

They are also significantly louder on the 904sh.

Posted by: johnmoon

904SH is loud too I mean LOUD, 920SH's volume is about the same

Posted by: hyolee

Awsome!

Now... to decide if I should wait for the HK/Taiwan versions of the 920SH or just buy the jap one...

Posted by: fung_pi

just satisfy your dream and buy it now

Posted by: markol

yeah u won't regret it!!

Yeah, but the 920 doesn't have stereo speakers like the 904 lol....
Not like you can really tell the difference.

hyolee? Like Hyori?

Posted by: markol

do any of you know how to make the mp4 ringtones?... ive read that you have to convert the file to 3gp first.. then to mp4 for it to work.. i've tried it but it doesn't seem to be working for some reason... anyone have step by step instructions?

Posted by: poulet16bits

so if i understand...even if its unlocked and ur able to use it with fido in canada, still cannot use the camera???

same thing lolll
i want this phone really bad ...
but yeah no multimedia, camera

but eventually if they get unlocked
is it only firmware update? or ill need to get another hypersim(or any sim tricking card)..i mean those card are like 100$ each

Posted by: yoosanlicious

another question
media player include mp3 player right?!
cuz on some phones mp3 player is separate from media player...so yeah just to be sure..

i also found this
on another forum concerning further unlocking..

''unlock solution, high chance it can't be improved already. the original maker, the person who came up with this unlock believe it is hard. even if there is a chance, may have to open set. ''

Posted by: KBoardBox

Yeah, MP3 player is locked, as that's part of the media player. We'll see if the HK and TW versions will help with the unlock effort.

johnmoon: I dno't think it can sync to Outlook, but if you have a Mac you can sync the 920 lol

Posted by: johnmoon

Kboard: man dont tell me I have to buy a macbook just to sync this baby

SAD... SAD

Posted by: hyolee

So I guess with the hypersim unlock, you can't watch videos either?

Posted by: johnmoon

Quote:

NO CAMERA
NO MP3
NO VIDEO
NO TV
NO INTERNET
NO MMS
NO JAVA (GAMES)

restrictions... restrictions but eventually will get unlocked I believe
who knows they already did but want to get rid of their all stock of Hyper / PSS

Even if you had a Mac, you'll need special software to hook up iSync to the Sharp. martindesu has it and he's been using it since at least his 903.

Posted by: AL9999

Even with the media player unlocked, MP3 isn't supported. MP3 is still unsupported on Sharp JP market phones.

Yup, got it when I got a 903SH. I don't think it supports earlier than a 902SH.

FREE THEMES for 920sh!!!!!!

http://www.custamo.com/pc/920/index.html

go down to where it says: 920SHコンセプトデザイン(無料)

and those few are free!!

Posted by: AL9999

Well that's nice to know, those certainly weren't there before. Sharp do take a while to get the free themes up sometimes...

Posted by: riel

Thanks for the theme update markol =)

Posted by: markol

hahah i like the Pop Up Wind one.. the menu looks cool

Posted by: SeedDestinys

question, the smart tone version of 920, does anyone know if we can flash our softbank one to the smart tone firmware like how we do things for 903 back in the old days?

Posted by: AL9999

It's a bit hard to answer that question considering the phone hasn't been released, let alone even been seen.

I downloaded a few of the 'custom screen' but how come it wouldn't let me 'apply' it on the 920SH?

Most likely no... unless HK willing to spend millions of dollars on one-seg
I still dont like HK ver sharp phones, their icons and stuff just too plain
as long as 920SH gets unlocked like 904sh will be happy

Posted by: AL9999

You can only install the concept design themes from custamo on the 920SH - the ones at the bottom of the page with (C) SHARP CORPORATION next to them. The others cost money, and there's no way of paying for them and obtaining the DRM key to unlock them without a Softbank subscription.

Posted by: yoosanlicious

okay thanks for all the info
got another question

can we browse some of our own pictures
like from the memory card, or transferred via bluetooth
or pictures is in media player too

Posted by: SeedDestinys

true say, i find the smartone version is rather slow on my 903 and the gui is truly horrible. hopefully the unlock for media is out, they prob just need to program something into the sim that tricks the phoen its connected to a 3g network. pretty sure they can do that. maybe they have and just dun want to introduce it like what the other person said in this thread.

Posted by: yoosanlicious

so to unlock the media player
if it gets unlocked one day
we need to get a new sim card reader?!
and its not via firmware update..

Posted by: KBoardBox

We don't know yet. We don't need a SIM card reader ever, it's a SIM hack.

920SH or not, you're always welcome here in Toronto

Changing themes on the phone requires more work than other phones by Nokia and SE. For other phones, the theme just get "applied", and takes a maximum of 10 seconds, while the 920SH requires an installation that takes about a minute.

As well, while the theme is installing, phone functions are entirely disabled until completion.

Themes for this phone are much larger though, which is probably why it takes longer.

Same on 904SH. Sharp themes have never been speedy.

Posted by: AL9999

It's quite speedy on the 880SH though, takes about 10 seconds to apply a custom theme on that one (although it's very slow on the 770SH, minute plus).

Although, that might be because barely any of the phone's menus, icons and other things are changed compared to JP market Sharp themes, so yeah.

Edit: Clarification.

wat there is a meetup going on?

hmm i don't think it's as simple as tricking the phone into connected to a 3g network.. coz if that was the case.. the functions of the phone should work if connected to an actual 3g network.. which it doesn't coz i've been using it on a 3g network for the last month or so~

THAT would be fantastic! If SHARP could finally release THIS phone for the rest of the world!

couldnt find a download link (maybe there is but i dont read japanese)

Does the original packaging for the phone come with the cd?

So you cannot add contacts into phhonebook on the phone? You must use computer then sync?

It comes with cd, and can either add contacts on the phone or handset manager program / outlook
it will update each others' new contact to their database (phone / computer)

Posted by: riel

Keep in mind that the phone package does not include the charger! Use the ZTDAA1 charger, which is the one shared by SX633 and 903SH.

or you can get one of those cheap Momax ones... they work great!.. and they're cheap!! (in price)

Posted by: UncleAllEvil

Any charger for Sharp phones (starting from GX30) should work. NEC, Panasonic (VS series) and Toshiba chargers or compatible also should work. Same with USB cable.

Posted by: riel

UncleAllEvil just reminded me something: if your batteries are entirely drained, the USB cable won't help at all. The USB cable will only charge the phone if it is turned on. This problem was raised by a member of this forum.

me...
so i had to get hold of another charger and boosted up the battery until it let me turn on the phone.. then connected it to the computer through usb

Posted by: wai_lai416

hmm.. i managed to charge the 920sh out of the box with the usb cable. as soon as i plugged it in i get the red light on the phone. and the 920sh was completely dead out of the box. so i'm pretty sure you can charge it even with it completely dead.

You can't.

There must have been some charge in there. Most batteries are sold with some charge.

I love your signatue man I totally agree on that
guess softbank is about to take the same track (sure they lost pretty much already by now)
unless they come up with something new to stop those SIM HACKS

Posted by: htdma

Hi Mr.Johnmoon

Thanks! It's true though... unlike Europe where Sony and Motorola make a handset and sell to network, in Japan the network is in charge of the phones. That is why they all have the same power connectors pretty much.
In sharp there are 4 departments... not Japan, USA, Europe... but NTT Docomo, Softbank, AU and World market. The 903SH was only on Vodafone - so only vodafone lost money. Same with softbank. Unless they change the law on cancelled contracts, someone will lose!

interesting
but hey I still want to use japanese phones

but I thought you had a UK one also that shouldnt count

I dont think I did, I got all of vodafone japan phones used. My 904sh and my white 903sh came from japan the others used, but I watergoods versions

Posted by: KBoardBox

Keyword is "indirectly," as I bought all of mine used. Yeah, I did have one that was from the UK, and the other ones were (originally) from Japan.

Posted by: 4x4xfar

I just received my 920sh and can't find my answer:

1- I am not able to call my voicemail. The number inside the phone is 1416...is there a way to change that for my voicemail number of rogers?

2- My phonebook is all f** up even I manage to sort it by reading or anything else. Is ther a way to put that in alphabetical order?

Thanks guys, hoping for an answer.
The phone is amazing!!! I can't believe that beauty won't be unlocked one day...

What if you are a japanese guy going in vacation in north america...is that mean you can't use the camera cause of the reprovisioning thing? Really, is that the case?

Cheers,

Eric

Posted by: KBoardBox

1) I'm sure you can look up the Rogers voicemail number on HoFo...sorry I don't have it handy.

2) How did you get your contacts on to the 920? I've got a guide to fix that here if you imported the contacts via a vCard backup: http://moov4.net/node/21 Otherwise, if you have your contacts on your computer in Outlook, you can install the Handset Manager software that comes with the 920 on the CD and import your contacts that way. The only thing you have to do is map Last Name in Outlook to Reading Order (Last Name), etc. in the sync settings.

1- I can find the number rogers, that is ok. But, what I tryng is to insert that right number into the "call voicemail" instead of the 1416 that "call voicemail" is calling!

2- The contacts where on my sim card. Is is just not sorting the contacts in alphabetical order.

Thanks

Posted by: KBoardBox

1) Huh, maybe you can set it in the settings? I vaguely remember a Voicemail option there.

2) The Jap firmware won't read your contacts in alpha order, as alpha order doesn't exist for Japanese. Try copying all your contacts to the phone then backing them up to the microSD then use my method to add Reading Order fields to all your contacts.

Posted by: 4x4xfar

You don't have any issue with your voicemail?

I don't use voicemail. I use the Answer Phone function in the 920 lol (the answering machine built in).

on sharps to have it in japanese you need the langauge setting in japanese, if its in english you get a british women

Yeah, that sucks, I really wished I could choose the language of the Answer Phone independent of the phone's set language.

An old Sanyo phone I have (V801SA) lets me do that. Don't know why later phones don't allow it.

Yeah, it's the slider. It used to be my second phone, but now that I have two Toshibas it's my "lend" phone (sometimes my sister forgets to recharge her cellphone- I lend her this one). But it has a funny bug- when I turn the phone off and back on it always switches back to Japanese.

with inactive sim you cant use any features at all like hyper/pss + no call / sms feature

it has to be an active sim with softbank service

Posted by: pchan0

The camera seems really, really good. damn!

Posted by: gunadz

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what about one of those 2-in-1 sim card things? They seem to be advertised all over eBay...

Posted by: KBoardBox

Those are for using two different SIMs in the same phone, so like two different numbers. Not an unlocking solution.

TRUST ME, the camera absolutely sucks. It has SO much noise. It is WAY worse than 912SH, which is already worse than 904SH.

lol really? Well then, P905i it is.

omg this si gay, forgot to charge phone and battery died out now i cna;t charge it with usb, my phone is in a coma . looks like i gotta look for a rapid charger.

For those who already have the 920Sh, did it come with a Sharp Aquos cellphone strap?

Not mine. Mine came with the SoftBank screen wipy thing, the version in kaizoku_san's sig (I have the orange one).

Posted by: johnmoon

softbank dont come with any straps, must be just given out for free from your sellers

Posted by: markol

mine didn't come with anything extra like that

Posted by: Reevsaj

Does anyone know if it has GPRS? I know that the SH905i does, but I would rather buy a 920sh

Posted by: SeedDestinys

i never got anything extra

hmm good question, u made me wonder about that too, but rogers has hsdpa on umts network so 920sh shud work on it (doesn;t need a rogers phone to use their 3g now) and that is the 920sh gets unlocked.

Posted by: KBoardBox

Wrong frequencies. Rogers uses 850 and 1900, the 920SH uses 2100. Won't work even if it's unlocked.

Yes I know, but unfortunatel im in the US and on T-Mobile. D:
I think T-Mobile is getting 3G on the 2100 wavelength, but im not sure what type of signal it is. Will it matter?

Posted by: KBoardBox

The American T-Mobile 2100 is paired with a 1700Mhz band, so it's not the same as the European/Asian 2100 Mhz set-up. Something like that, I'm still muddy on the details, but that just about sums it up.

Posted by: Reevsaj

thats dissapointing. Oh well. Its not like im going to use the internet that much. Even on 3G, its not amazingly fast.

Posted by: KBoardBox

3G is bleh, but 3.5G ain't half bad.

Posted by: Reevsaj

Yeah. In the US we are oretty much still stuck on 2G -__-
People are more worried about talking away rather than having an amazing phone, and then when a halfway decent phone with webbrowsing (iPhone) comes along, people are like "the internet is sooo slow the iPhone sucks", when really its the network. D:

Posted by: 4x4xfar

Anybody knows about the picture max size you can put in the data folder?
I guess it is somewhere under 1meg
I manage to insert one that is 650kb for the horizontal screen...wow quality is amazing on this screen

thanks for the answer,

eric

Posted by: riel

I'm not sure about the maximum picture size, but I've had 3.2mp phones take pictures that were over 1mb. The maximum picture size would be no smaller than shots taken with the phone camera's size.

I usually scale my wallpapers to the dimensions of the phone, so they're generally not very big in size.

Posted by: 4x4xfar

I manage to put pictures 1280 X 960 with image converter and it works fine. I have to say that the quality of the screen is nothing I've ever seen before on a handset. Just gorgeous!

Thanks again Riel for your answer.

If somebody is looking for a charger for a sharp 920sh with singapore/UK pin, PM me, you just have to pay for shipping!

Eric

Uh, what? I've got to check on that, but I'm not entirely sure we have 2100 at all here. If we do, it'll be for network testing only and not for general public consumption. I could be wrong though.

well perhaps its because ur in vancouver right now. cuz video calling is available in rogers as 3.5g hsdpa and i asked teh rogers technician whether other phones can be used and they said yes.

Posted by: KBoardBox

haah I WORK for Rogers part-time in network engineering. We've had 1900 and 850 HSDPA across the nation for a little while now, and I know for sure it's mostly 850 here in Vancouver. The guy you're talking to seems to be referring to the fact that other 1900 and 850-band phones will work on Rogers' HSDPA, not 2100.

Posted by: yangj08

BTW- anyone in Canada with a DoCoMo phone try locking their phone to 3G-only to see if it picks up the 850 signal?

Posted by: jon_jai

isn't 850 a gsm signal?
so if the phone is 3G only, i dont think it can pick up the 850mhz signal

Posted by: KBoardBox

Quote:

Will do.

jon_jai, we have GSM and UMTS/HSDPA on the same frequencies here, 850 and 1900.

Posted by: jon_jai

i'm a bit confused now.
I've read that SH905iTV does not work here because we don't have the same 3G frequency as the one in Asia

Posted by: KBoardBox

All NTT DoCoMo phones have a frequency that overlaps with our NA one. They're the only ones like that, and hence theoretically they can use 3G here.

Posted by: AL9999

As KBoardBox says, all 905i series phones work in the US and Canada using the 3G 850 band. This is a band that these phones support while Softbank phones only support 3G 2100.

I'll reiterate for the record, Canada does not have 3G on the 2100 band. This is a fact, you can look it up on GSMWorld.com if you disagree.

Posted by: johnmoon

Just dont expect to use 3G service from DoCoMo phones in North America and most countries at the moment
it most likely will give you big trouble using it (no incoming calls / no sms and more)
very unstable at the moment, stick with 2G for now (even some phones dont work normal in 2G as well)

Posted by: SeedDestinys

well unless the guy is wrong.
"i went to ask the engineering department and they said we do use the UMTS 2100 network for our 3g service."- these are his exact words.

can u confirm it for me whether if its true that there is 2100 in toronto? since u said you work in the engineering department.

Posted by: KBoardBox

That guy is wrong, I've asked around, and all I got were LOLZ at how silly that was. Trust me, WE DON'T HAVE 2100 IN CANADA.

T-Mobile in the US uses it for part of their 3G, but their's is weird with some 1700 Mhz thrown in. Not compatible with the 2100-stuff from the rest of the world.

Hi OP(or anyone), do you know where I can get a hypersim/pss-sim locally in GTA? and the usual price? If it's inappropriate to post, could you pm me please? I just bidded a 920SH on ebay and am struggling whether to keep it...which really depends on if I can get a hypersim easily.

Thanks!

That's because he bidded on a 920SH, not a PSS-SIM/Hyper-SIM.

No.. I don't know where to get one locally. eBay's probably your best bet.

although I don't know how likely it might happen, but I am afraid of the risk of getting a non-working pss sim, then having to go through the process of getting a replacement, so I thought that getting it locally might be the ideal solution.

If it's a PSS-SIM for Sharp then it will work.

Yeah I think I'll just get one off eBay, it's just that I've heard about people getting malfunctioning "pss sims for sharp" even locally and they had to keep going back for exchange....

thanks!

Oh my.. don't scare me!

Are you sure you didn't damage it when you put it into the 705SH?

try to master reset with voda jp sim card.

I had to master reset my 904sh to get it to read both my sim hacks and now I can switch between both on my 904sh for two of my sim cards

Its officially dead, won't work in my just arrived 920sc either T_T

I tried the hard-reset thing for my 920sh, still doesn't work.

Samsung for a Sharp? I'd do it anyday.

Hi Johnmoon,
I'm thinking of buying either the Docomo SH905i o or the Softbank 920sh.
Which phone can let you transfer photos and make it as a wallpaper?
My buying decision depends on this feature.
Thanks and best regards.

With your info, I'm now leaning towards the Sharp 920SH.
I understand that it has bluetooth while the Docomo SH905i don't have it and I've read from this forum that there are some stability issues on the SH905i, something like difficulty in hanging on a signal. I saw some pics of the 920sh having lattice-like texture on their silver version while some pictures have satin finish. Which is the official one?
Thanks.

Isn't the SH905i the most stable one out of all?

Could anyone explain/show what types of sim card contacts are accepted by the PSS/Hyper sim to unlock the 920SH?
This is whats stopping me from buying one, I have a 2-3 year old T-Mobile Sim card.
Im hoping for a software unlock though...

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

There should be a picture with the types of sim cards and what accepts and what not in the old pss-sim thread >_> I remember seeing it but ugh its buried in that thread.

Posted by: Reevsaj

If someone could get me a link that would be great. I cant seem to find it in the search.

Posted by: bestdesignman

Hi everyone,
By using sim hack, which phone has the most unlocked features? Sofbank 920sh or docomo sh905i? Am thinking on buying one of these awesome phones. Hope someone be kind enough to help me out on this. Thanks in advance.

Posted by: riel

SH905i for sure bestdesignman. With the current SIM hack, you can only call in / out and sms in / out with the 920SH.

SH905i has almost everything unlocked, just not any internet functions.

I am gonna keep my 920SH in hopes there will be an unlock though =) Just can't look away from the AQUOS screen.

Posted by: bestdesignman

Thanks Riel for the information. Am going to browse now at ebay to look for the best offer on the Docomo SH906i. I'm thinking of buying the black one. I'll post it once I get my hands on it.
Thanks again.

Hey All!

I have a question. I'm awaiting the next days my new 920SH in Gold. I remember reading on the forum about issues when You try to use the SIM-Card with the iNEX-Chip on it with other Phones. In my case that would be the 903.

Will the card have a physical problem to fit, or will there be any issues like, that the SIM will try to fool the 903 that the card is from SoftBank?

The 903SH won't recognize the hacked SIM at all, unless your 903SH is locked.

Check my sig for the thread: "Before buying a locked Japanese phone.." to see which phones are compatible if you're wondering.

Posted by: b.a.

Thank You very much! Helped me a lot .

Posted by: pinkboi

Hello, I'm new to this forum, but not to using unlocked Japanese phones, which is currently the only way to do Japanese text (though the iPod touch works for portable if you don't mind having to hunt for WiFi.. and there's this ghetto service you can get for BlackBerries that's totally not worth it from DoCoMo)
  1. Okay, looking around in the forums, it appears that you must sync with Windows for the address book? I have computers w/ Windows on them, but I'd really love to be able sync using iSync on my MacBook via bluetooth. Is that not possible? Is there software I can easily acquire?
  2. If bluetooth already works, does that mean the address book syncing already works?
  3. On a scale of 1-10, how likely is it that this thing's Internet and MMS will be locked? I looooove the screen, but if being able to log into mixi or MySpace is a no-go, that may be a deal-killer for me.

Um.. that is all. hehe

Posted by: KBoardBox

1. You can sync with Outlook on the PC or you can sync with iSync...but you have to buy software for it for the latter. Just search "iSync" in the Sharp forum and you'll find a link. Bluetooth should be supported.

2. Ditto.

3. The answer is "zero." It doesn't have a menu to modify Internet settings, so you can't change it to work with, say, T-Mobile. Not yet, at least. There might be some hybrid firmwares coming out with the HK and Taiwanese versions of the 920SH coming out soon.

That's what I was worried about. In other words, even if everything gets unlocked, it still won't work with t-zones. Would hybrid firmwares work just because the HK market is more open? My only concern would be if they aren't able to simultaneously have such features as well as Japanese text...

Oh well, looks like I'm gonna settle for the 709sc for now.. too bad it can't read QR codes.
