Tilt Users - welcome me into your brotherhood

Tilt users, embrace me upon your boosom. If all goes as planned, and AT&T allows me to get the Tilt at the discounted rate for adding a new number and a 2 year extension on that number, I will be one of you.

I have many uses for this device (GPS hugely for starters) and I'd rather have this than an Xbox360. Windows Mobile 6 > XBox360 anyday

Also, what better way to impress the ladies when you tell them to put their number into this awesome phone device.

Wish me luck people.

You'll end up replacing the Tilt FAR less than a Xbox360 anyways

Quick questions about the Tilt and wm6 with built in GPS in general - when you use the GPS, does it cound towards your data usage, or is it independent from a data connection? Would I incur data charges?

Thanks in advance

if you use software such as TomTom then there should be no data charge, all maps will be loaded on the SD card and the GPS location is done using the GPS technology and not the EDGE/GPRS/3G. Just like stand alone Navigation systems ... they dont require u to use internet access or data transfer for getting from point a to point b, just when you want up-to-date info such as traffic jam, constructions etc.

P.S Forgot to mention that if you use TeleNav (i haven't used it, and i never will) it requires subscription and it gets the map data over the air (which is considered data transfer) but i am not sure if that data transfer is included in the TeleNav subscription or would it take a way from your data package (if you have one, otherwise it would be Pay-Per-Use)

PEOPLE! FELLOWS!

Is this not a brotherhood? I bought into the Tilt, not only because of its functionalities, but also because we are on the front lines in the war against i-fanboys.

We know we're better, but we're not arrogant about it.

Perhaps I'll understand more when my Tilt arrives in the mail early next week.

The telenav subscription is for routing services. You still have to pay for data, though most folks who have a WM phone are on an unlimited data plan so that is a null point. These over the air nav programs have one significant downside, they don't work where there isn't a signal (like on the mountain roads in the middle of Vermont).

Tom Tom is very good (you can find the version that comes shipped with the Kaiser if you look around), though the US/Canada map costs an arm.
