Dash Help Needed. RE: Installing programs

I've downloaded programs to install on the Dash. I've unrared the files, then copied the unrared files to the Dash. I open explore in sync, then I've tried pasting the folder to different files, including storage card, program files, my windows mobile. Then I sync, turn off the phone, turn it back on, find the folder in the phone, open the folder and click install. It goes through an install process, but I can't find the installed programs anywhere. I was able to install pocketnester and it works, but nothing else. I then go back through the phone and delete everything I've installed and try again in a different location.

Is there a walk through somewhere that will tell me the correct way to install and use programs?
