Hi,
I am wondering that I am able to use 705px unlocked with T-mobile sim in US?
Do I need Hypersim or PSS sim?
How about 920sh unlocked?
or, which unlocked phones can I use with T-mobile sim.

I searched for whole a day, but I could not find any answers ;(
I am so confused.
Please somebody tells me...

Thanks

Posted by: aw614

you need pss or hypersim to work

Posted by: Ryosei1985

Thanks!

Posted by: wetworx

any suggestions on where I can get a hypersim/pss? I'm in both Hong Kong and Tokyo, so any local shops would be appreciative. Domo.

Sin Tat might be your best choice in HK

Thank you for the suggestion, is that in Mong Kok?

Posted by: wetworx

I went to Sin Tat, they mostly had the PSS...but no one there was able to unlock it ...is it that they didn't have the correct hypersim/PSS version?

One store mentioned that it requires both a software unlock as well as a sim chip...and will only work for 3G sims worldwide...not GSM (aka my Tmobile stateside).

i had it work on gsm

interesting, where and what did you get to unlock it?

Posted by: aw614

I just used a regular pss or inex 128 and it worked on gsm, but it had the roaming icon on all the time

strange the shops in Hong Kong tested it with a PSS and none were able to get it to work. Would you know where I can buy the same pss or inex as you? Much appreciative if you can.

Domo.

i got mine from the pss website
http://pss-sim.com/

Hi everyone, I just have a simple question, does the softbank panasonic 705px with hypersim work in Canada under GSM (Rogers and Fido)? I am planning to get one from Ebay... Anyone who knows the answer I would be very thankful!!! Thank you!

Posted by: aw614

did you not read the previous threads?

Posted by: mamak9999

Yes I did read but didnt see any Canadian users talked about it....

Posted by: aw614

it should be about the same, not sure why the sellers on ebay saying it doesnt work on gsm when mine was

Posted by: mamak9999

I also asked some of the ebay sellers, some said yes and some said no... very confusing... I have checked some Asian forums, in HK, only 3hk can operate. I guess I have to take the risk for getting this phone.

Posted by: aw614

well if you want a cheap one thats used...i might be getting rid of mine

Thanks again aw614, I'm assuming you ordered the 'PSS SIM for Sharp' and not the one for the 'iPhone'.

Posted by: aw614

yeah, thats the oen I ordered for sharp, be careful though, i damaged my pss taking it out of 705p. it is a really tight fit, you might need to use sandpaper and make sim card thinner so it slides in and out faster

Thanks for the tip =) hope it works.

Posted by: aw614

btw, is there a major difference between 705p and 705px?I have regular 705p

Posted by: wetworx

i don't know actually, I bought mine from Softbank and though the box says 705px the back of the phone says 705p. Less color options maybe? haha http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/en/product/3g/705p/index.html

btw here is the tw thread if you can read chinese
http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail...65&t=487055&p=1

Posted by: wetworx

thanks again...i'll get someone to translate for me...haha
but i noticed the screens say 3G

Posted by: rlguildpaper

Are the multimedia functions, like the camera unlocked as well?
Or is only SMS and calling available?

Posted by: aw614

camera worked and videos did too, also music

Hi,

Just received my 705px and a HyperSIM to go with it. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work (always get an "Invalid USIM" message). I thought it was pretty simple but now reading through the threads dedicated to sim hacks and whatnot, I'm pretty stumped.

I'm on the Smartone-Vodafone network in Hong Kong. The sim provided with the phone (I got the phone on ebay) is the Taiwan-made HyperSIM (iNEX HS128) which I hear is supposed to pretty recent and stable. The package mentions being designed for the 920sh, 904sh, 705sh, 920t, 912t and the 911t models, but doesn't mention the 705p or 705px.

Are there any other sims I can try for HK? I see that there's a video on youtube of someone who unlocked their 705p but I can't tell what simcard they were using to hack it (apparently, they were using the 3 network). Something that bothers me is that there's a rumor that sim hacks don't work on Smartone-Vodafone simcards....anyone else heard of this?

Hope someone can help me out.

Posted by: aw614

I used an inex 128 pss and it worked on my 705p

Posted by: bakakutani

In HK? What network were you under? (and is the pss the same as the hypersim?)

Posted by: aw614

not in hk though I am in the us on cingular/att. the pss is supposed to be the same I think as the hs128. by any chance you used the phone before with an old vodafone jp sim card? You can try to master reset it.

Posted by: bakakutani

I got it straight from the box so I doubt there was any messing around with it, and I don't have a jp sim on me. Not sure if a master reset will do anything since it's brand new.....

....how does one perform a master reset anyway?

Posted by: takumi906

settings > security > reset > all reset

Posted by: bakakutani

Oh....

Well, seeing as I can't get past the "Invalid USIM" screen and I don't have a jp sim, I guess doing a master reset is pretty much not going to happen...

The seller suggested trying a cheaper sim hack (like the made-in-China ones) to see if they will work.....not sure if they will though. Some one is selling the pss on ebay and he seems adamant that the pss will work for the 705Px in HK and that he has the people (in HK) to prove it. Sounds fine and all, but what if the problem is with my sim?

I tried calling Smartone's customer services and asked discreetly if my sim was GSM or a 3G sim. The rep just told me, "not to worry because either would work fine". As I was currently on a 3G plan, he told me that my sim was "pretty much a 3G sim". I kinda got the feeling that he didn't quite get my question. Does that mean I have a 3G sim or some other sim that acts like one?

....bleh....

EDIT: okay, it seems that the problem lies with my sim. I always get that annoying "INVALID USIM" message whenever I try using the phone. I explained my situation to the pss seller and he reckons that my Smartone sim is not a USIM, hence the phone won't recognize the sim no matter what sim hack is used.

aw614, did you use a USIM for your 705P?

I should probably just go ahead and ask the smartone rep if I have a USIM or not.........

I don't think AT&T has USIMs. And besides, regular SIMs have been proven to work... maybe your PSS is defective?

Posted by: bakakutani

If it's just that then I'd be really happy. I guess I've no choice but to try a different hypersim / pss and just hope for the best.

Posted by: aw614

I've been wondering if it might have been sim card related, though my att sim card worked with a pss on my 705p, I could not get the same sim card to work with a hypersim256 or china3gpp, not sure why, but the 705p is very tricky to work

i don't know if my att sim is a usim or not, but it said 3G on it. Also, i think you do need a USIM for this phone to work, it's what i found on most of the forum on the net and this one seller's description on ebay.

I always thought that AT&T used plain old SIMs, even the 3G ones.

http://jphonesimfree.com/eforum/vie...&extra=page%3D1

does this mean if the gprs settings are editable like on the 705p then you can go online with it? I know the old voda japan has it too so just wondering, I dont have data or a locked 705p, 804sh, 703, 903sh to test it

Posted by: bakakutani

That'd be cool. I can't try it out for the moment though. Unfortunately, my pss came in and the 705px still doesn't work. Looks like my sim is to blame, probably not being a USIM afterall. Bah, what a disappointment.

Anyway, fughedaboutit.

Heh heh, I'm off to go check out the SX862. Might buy it if I feel like it.....

Posted by: bakakutani

Well, good news and bad news.

Bad:
I couldn't get the SX862 because the contract I have on my SX633 hasn't expired yet. I have to wait another month before I can purchase it....

Good:
I scored a USIM card!!

Well, I asked if Smartone had any and the sales rep told me that since all normal SIM cards were compatible with 3G, they didn't sell them. Unless, the customer was a frequent traveller (like on business, to China, Singapore, Taiwan) and needed a sim card with more memory. For an additional HK$38/month for one year, I can change my sim to a USIM and enjoy a flat rate of HK$3.80/minute calling from any of the above countries (which I didn'tcare for, I just wanted a USIM to use in my 705px).

As soon as I got back home, I tried it and my 705px works like a charm. I am so happy.....I might go crazy......

My next project will probably be to see if I can get my P900iv to work as well, once it arrives.

by any chance you can try the data to see if it works?

Posted by: bakakutani

Yeah, tried it. I was just supposed to follow that guy's instructions, right? There were some parts he didn't mention or didn't specify what was supposed to go in there so I just left them blank.

Anyway, it didn't work. I just got a "NO RESPONSE" message. Don't know if it was because I was missing any data as mentioned above, or if the settings were specifically for Taiwan.

That said, is there anyone who would know the settings for any HK mobile browsers? I guess I'm looking specifically for Smartone-In.

Hey all, is anybody using 705px on rogers right now? I just found something out. I don't know if it's just me, but my 705px won't except any other sim and sim hack combo. I even master reset it. It only excepts the sim and sim hack combo that intially made contact with rogers. Can somebody else try and verify..

Anybody?????

Posted by: aw614

not sure that seems to be the same issue i had on att...

Posted by: azn_X

So does this mean nobody else can use the phone after you?

Posted by: aw614

not sure, i sold mine but do not know. I got my 705p used from yaj and the first time i put a PSS sim it worked. but I did not cut another sim card to try it out. Just with the same sim card using hypersim256 did not work. master rest did not work

Posted by: azn_X

Hypersim256, is that TW iNEX hypersim?

Cuz I also used a pss sim the first time and the second time I used iNEX hypersim with the same sim. It gave me the error message. But aren't pss and iNEX hypersim the same thing?

Posted by: aw614

i thought they were
hypersim256 is the large chip one on the bottom of the sim, not in the corner like china3gpp or in the middle like pss

Posted by: azn_X

Wow what I found was it didn't like iNEX hypersim but instead pss.

Hello, guys.

I think there are some misunderstanding, 705px can only use USIM.

What I understand is that USIM must support WCDMA.

In Europe, we do have USIM on most of the networks, in the UK, all networks are using USIM now.

In HK, 3HK is the only networks using USIM at the moment, as I know.

In north America, like Canada & USA, they had CDMA2000, which is the different mode from WCDMA, even we all have GSM, but the sim in the US & Canada just can not be used in 705px, for guys who using a UK sim to travel to the US, 705px can work under GSM mode.

There is no matter of what kind of hypersim you are using, it all gonna be the same.

I wish it makes better to understand.

^_^

Have u seen this yet??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXWPG7pM4D8

It works in Canada on Rogers.

Posted by: jphoneuk

so, why somebody can't use 705px with iNEX hypersim in Canada?

by the way, it has to be GSM mode in Canada, right?

Posted by: azn_X

yup it has to be in gsm mode

Posted by: aw614

this was mine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jfk-Y-9UCL0
it was working using pss using a cingular sim card. however i am not sure if the 64k sim card is any different from the new att fireball 3g ones

I will try both on Fido SM32, Rogers 4000, Rogers 3040 sims and post my results maybe next week. Sim hack is $7 ismartphone2008. Will let you all know.

1 black and 1 silver.

tried using ismartsim2008 (ismartphone2008) on fido SM32 (doesnt work) and rogers 3040 (doesnt work). tomorrow I will try rogers 4000 and uo.2 or whatever the newest are.

I will also try PSS sim on sm32 and 3040 with 705px.

If they don't work I need to find one that does. My theory is that the 3040 and sm32 are 2g sim cards, not 3g usims. To my knowledge a USIM is just a 3G sim card.

4000 and UO.2 sims work fine with 705px (I tested today) as they are USIM.
