I am trying to download the Contacts from an old Slider SE47 (BELL Mobility) for a good friend and load them into a new phone.

I have obtained Kyocera Phone Desktop

I have a USB data cable that fits/works(?) that is from one of my old LG phones (it is compatible)

BUT the KPD can not locate the phone (COM1) and COM3 is not available (?).

I have tried BitPim, Kyocera PST, even PalmDesktop. not one of them can locate / detect the phone.

I have changed the bod rate to 19200, still nothing

I have searched here and read many threads on the problems and solutions and none work.

I have been at it for about 5 hours, and this is a favour

Can some one please help

(I am running XP an the OS)

I have downloaded more USB drivers still no help.

Side notes

The cable does work on LG phones

The Firewall has been set to allow access (F-Secure)

The cable does charge the phone.

COM3 is now showing but will not connect.

Can anyone offer a suggestion. It is not that I am too lazy to read everything and spend weeks learning how to use my phone. I am doing a favour for a friend.
