"REPAIR NEEDED: Iphone cannot make or recieve calls" HELP PLEASE

ok, i did not drop my phone or get it water damaged or anything i am super protective oif my phone. i was txting and waiting for a response and i checked my iphone and it said service lost. iv seen this message b4 because im in ontario, canada and i just thought it was just rogers. so i went to go into network and it wasnt there and then i got the repair needed message. my iphone is 1.1.1 i baught it unlocked brand new like 4 months ago and havent had any problems. ppl say the magnetic case effect it or sumthing:S? but i called a guy that repairs iphones and he said that it might only be a software problem. can anyone direct me in the right way of fixing this?? if its easier to talk via msn or aim then add me. my msn is ceccaboy00@hotmail.com and my aim is JAG1Darkstar

More info please. Is it 1.1.1 OTB? Is it software unlocked with anySIM? I would just put it into DFU mode and restore it, see what happens.

its 1.1.1 otb i dunno how it was unlocked i didnt do it. im downloading the restore file right now and gunna try a restore.. my wifi and bluetooth also doesnt work? is that a different problem or does that happen to with this problem?

also do i keep my rogers sim in or do i put the att one in that came with the phone? well it work if i take my rogers sim out im expecting a call lol?

It doesnt matter what sim card is in there, but you will not be able to receive calls for a while.

Do you know how to put the phone in DFU mode?

You are probably going to have to virginize the baseband, which is most easily done on firmware 1.0.2.

What version of iTunes are you running?

the newest version of itunes.. restore mode? can someone add me to msn or aim and help me out for a couple mins?

I have an iPhone my friend tried to unlock. its a week 48 phone.. came 1.1.2 OTB. It gives the same message "REPAIR NEEDED: Iphone cannot make or recieve calls." Tried going into DFU mode and restoring to 1.1.1 but it still gives me the message...think he might have upgraded to 1.1.3...but dont know. Please help

his firmware has to match modem or he cannot make phone calls

* 1.0 firmware came with 03.11.02_G modem firmware.
* 1.0.1 firmware came with 03.12.08_G modem firmware.
* 1.0.2 firmware came with 03.14.08_G modem firmware.
* 1.1.1 firmware came with 04.01.13_G modem firmware.
* 1.1.2 firmware came with 04.02.13_G modem firmware.
* 1.1.3 firmware came with 04.03.13_G modem firmware.

Thats odd... I just did this and it brought up a field test menu... I went to VERSIONS which seems to be the only menu I can access... well it shows Firmware Version: which is blank.
LCD Panel ID : 7520768

This isnt my phone so im not really torn up about it... but I hate to give up if there is something I can do so any advice you give I will try. please help

if he did update to 1.1.3 you probably have to take the phone back to 1.1.3 in order for it to work. Hopefully someone with more info than I will post. Until then, here's more info

I appreciate your help. Ive tried restoring back to 1.1.3 and I get a message stating after if finishes that the iphone cannot be restored. And unknown error has occured(1011 error).
Im trying the same restore again. See if the 2nd times a charm

i see you have tried 1.1.1 and 1.1.3 but have you tried to restore to 1.1.2

no. Im trying right now a suggestion I found on another forum. I downloaded the 1.1.3 update from the wiki and am trying to restore from DFU mode using the shift restore method... not sure how this will make a difference but Ill try anything... if that doesnt work Ill try to restore to 1.1.2

well that didnt work.. and now it wont allow me to SHIFT restore any version of the firmware... gives me the error that iphone cannot be restored, an unknown error occured(1)...

The only way it would restore would be for me to just hit the restore button to restore the factory 1.1.3... lets see what happens now... so frustrating. After that Ill try to do 1.1.2... if it lets me

i have the same problem as well,
i read some place to restore to 1.1.2 then restore to 1.1.1, and it would work,
i did the 1.1.2 restore now i will try go to 1.1.1 to check if problem is solved
