The January survey of 4,182 consumers focused on key market share changes among manufacturers and service providers, and the results caused the researchers to note a "seismic shift" in the industry.

While I am ready for an iPhone myself & hope to have it by next friday. But that review is way off. The fact that 4,000,000 iPhone have been sold & they only ask 4,182 people. They might as well say 1% are satisfied, Which we all know is more but thats not a very good study to say the iPhone has caused a "seismic shift".

People seem fixated on the numbers, and I can understand that. But the "seismic shift" that has happened is something I typed about on these forums on iDay. For the first time in recent memory, a brand NEW market entrant has stepped into the cellphone industry, with a new product, new activation method and new support model. That such a NEW player can grab 20+% of the sales of NEW devices sold in the most recent quarter, arguably the most important quarter of the consumer buying year.....that's impressive no matter how you slice or dice it.

Apple is creating a seismic shift. Whether that shift threatens any of the incumbents is hard to say as they've only been here for 8 months. But the fact that they have made such an impact, as a new player in an obscenely competitive market space, cannot be ignored. To do so would be asinine. They changed the rules and made a huge impact. My guess is that it will force changes from the other big players as well...as is already evidenced by RIM's response.

And we, as consumers, win. Period. Disruptive market introductions always bring more choice to consumers. Even if you hate the iPhone and Apple and swear fealty to some other platform/manufacturer, the fact that the iPhone has made an impact will result in benefits for ALL cellphone consumers as they have successfully challenged the status quo.

Well, all Motorola has to do is release one more RAZR inspired handset and all will be fine....................

All surveys are based on a small fraction of a total population. If the survey is conducted in accordance with well established polling principles, the sample should fairly represent a larger population, with an established margin of error. Obviously, there are other variables and some surveys can be unreliable due to errors.

Surveys have now consistently shown that the iPhone has a very high satisfaction rate -- higher than any other mobile phone currently in production.

However, you wouldn't know this from reading HowardForums, where one finds a litany of complaints and a significant number of non-iPhone owners and general iPhone-haters flooding the Apple forum to complain about or disparage the iPhone.

Now that I completely agree with.

As for howardforums having iPhone haters they aren't the only one. When I decided it was time for a new phone I started looking for a phone that had Wi-Fi, Capable of large storage for music, Naturally could make calls, & I wanted a nice touch screen, Light & thin. So when I started looking I figured I would end up having to go with a windows mobile phone, by the time I bought the phone, then bought memory I would end up having over 600 in a phone & that is to much for me. So I went to gsmarena & tried their phone finder, guess what popped up, iPhone, (I originally had no desire for it) I tried reading reviews & soon realized most reviews out are from people that hate it. Don't own it & never will.
After searching for weeks I finally realized I am hooked & ready to get it. It doesn't do as much as other phones but it does what I need. And it is cheaper.
My needs are simple, Phone, Wi-Fi, Music, Nice touch screen, Light & thin. I work 10hr shifts & I hope that the iPhone will last me for the time to listen to music. I only spend about 30mins a day talking. Internet usage will be rare.

Besides that screen is Amazing.
