How many times have you restored?

It seems like the general method of solving the iPhone issues is to restore the phone, which from my understanding basically reformats the phone. I'm curious to know how many people have done this. It seems like some people do it on a regular basis and see nothing wrong with the fact that a full reset is necessary to solve issues. I haven't had the need to do it yet, and I hope I won't have to. I've had enough of resets with my previous Windows Mobile phones. Also, I know you can just put back all the stuff you had on the iPhone after a restore but that can be time consuming.

So like I said I just wanna know who's done it and how many times just so I can get an idea.

I havent had to do it yet, but I'm thinking I might want to soon. Shes getting a little buggy (safari closing mostly).
Hopefully this thread will give me a good idea of what to do!

one time during a reset, the phone kept being locked up on the apple logo then the gear logo would spin forever. luckly when i plugged into my computer it backed up all the data.

so far no problems! it saved all my texts, photos, notes, calendar and contacts. i just had to resync my songs/movies.

How many times you have restored largely depends on what you do with your phone.
If you are a cassual user who uses their phone for what it was designed to do or if your hacking only involves very proven and safe methods, you won't have a need to restore nearly as often.

However, as a large part of HoFo members use the iPhone as a developing/hacking platform, we are bound to venture into unexplored waters and crash the OS every once in a while so many of you can enjoy 3rd party apps and tweaks.

Considering how easy it is to wipe the slate with the iPhone, compared to Moto or WM devices for example, we are able to "play" a bit more while discovering/building new things while relying on restores.

The SDK, once released, might lower the amount of restores we run into as "tweakers". I guess we'll see what happens.

Zero times.

I believe for the 1.1.3 upgrade, it needed to do a restore for whatever reason. But it was not initiated by me in response to a problem.

2 times in the last 5 day. Just got it 5 days ago and it comes with 1.1.3 OTB. This one is very buggy. My previous one was a 1.1.2. and upgraded to 1.1.3., but wasn't this buggy. Safari seems to freeze up at times. Phone goes to no service and stays there for a long time. I have to turn on/off to get signal. Some times when i try to unlock, the screen goes black and it freezes. I've already got 3 replacements. Do you think they can see how many replacements that I've had? This one that I got 5 days ago we suppose to be a new one. They opened the box in front of me but when I activated and restored the phone, it shows life time usage 7 hours. Did they lie to me??
