just went on my bell account on bell.ca to check my monthly usage, and it says that i've only used 0.027 megabytes, which is only 28 kilobytes, and on my touch it says i've used around 75 megabytes. now wtf is up with that? and how do i make sure on bell's site that i have unlimited browser on my account, because i dont trust the rep that sold it to me. i did call in and ask to make sure, and it was there, but i want to see it with my own eyes on the site.

Mobile Browser is capped at $2 per session to a maximum of $30 per month. What you're seeing is the Touch running into that cap because it's on the Mobile Browser system.

any idea on how to check if i have unlimited browser for sure?

1) Log into My Bell at www.Bell.ca
2) Find your way to the cellular profile
3) Click on Manage My Features under Features & Services
4) Click Change Settings
5) Look for Mobile Browser or a bundle that includes it

dont see "manage my features"

Weird, it doesn't look like you have any access. On my side I have a lot of extra options than what you're showing.

Phone
- Upgrade my phone

Features & Services
- Manage my features
- Change my phone
- Change my phone number
- Reset my voicemail password

Usage & Billing
- View my bill

Rate Plan
- Change my rate plan

You could also wait for a bill to see that you have it.

why would i not be able to see those things?

edit: could be that i just signed up like 4-5 days ago, or that i didnt sign up for online billing.

Which would mean that for this month, you're already at the $30 cap, so it can't get any worse.

lol so they cant charge for data past 30 dollars? what about that guy with the 84000 dollar bill?

Posted by: MacD

He was using data through tethering to his laptop, which is the same as a Blackberry, or other PDAs (excluding the touch)

Currently, there is no cap in place for that type of data.

On the TOUCH tethering is included in the unlimited mobile browser. As mentioned the TOUCH is not considered a DATA phone by Bell and not governed by the same rules for data usage as the Blackberry or other Windows Mobile PDA's.

no its not included...

in the TOS it says "not to be used as modem for computer" or something like that.

Tethering is not included on the touch. And that $85k guy was using a regular cell phone.

Whether its a Blackberry, Touch, Treo, Samsung a920, samsuna a640, samsung u740 or any other "regular" phone. Tethering will still charge as DATA, and will not be covered under the unlimited mobile browser feature in any way.

Why can't the other carriers do something reasonable like this? ($2/session, $30 cap).

The 2$/session is only for those with unlimited.

Posted by: Copacetic

Not true all accounts have $2/session.

Posted by: MacD

^Truth. That's the whole point of the cap. So that those without unlimited don't get high browser charges.
