I have the new BB 8110 and it is a battery hog. This is my 6th BB and I have never seen battery usage like this. Also, when I plug in the 8110 to charge it, I sometimes do not get the charge icon indicator. I have to pull out the battery to reset the phone before the charge indicator icon comes on.

Anyone else see this problem or do I have a defective unit?

Wow, the 3 BBs I have owned have been miserly on battery usage. I say you have a bad device.

Pearl does have lower than other BB's battery

However, changing some option would helps very much (which I believe you already knew)

anyhow, turn down the brightness to 50% or even lower, than turn on Auto-Dim feature... doing so makes the most different

For some reason my pearl has recently become a battery hog. Battery usage was never a problem until a couple of weeks ago. I thought my battery was just getting old, so I bought a new one, but I'm still having the same problems.

I hate to say but most perceived Blackberry problems are user induced!

Have you installed or starting using any new software? What is running in the background?

I have the latest 8110 Pearl. It consumes the power much quicker than any other Blackberry ever made when you are using the MP3 player and bluetooth stereo headphones. This is to be expected.

My 8130 battery seems to hold a charge well. Bluetooth radio on all the time. Brightness 100%. Timeout 20 seconds. Autodim off.
