am having real problems with my iphone and have been helped greatly by the forunm and especially dhendriksen, but we could not get service on the phone, i ask if anyone else has used a UK O2 sim card capable of video calls, thats 3G or Usim, this might be the answer to my problem. If i started this thread in the wrong place am sorry but i am distracted with the top corner of my phone saying "No Service" any help would be much appreciated.

I might add (as I have helped him unlock this in every fashion possible) that this is the only problem we could come up with. Either his iPhone is damaged and unable to get any service, or his SIM card is incompatible. If anyone in Europe is using an iPhone, please post if you have this Usim or not. It will be very helpful.

ok to update this thread, i have tried my 3G sim card in another phone and it works perfectly, the trial phone is the same "44" production as my phone and is operating on ver 1.1.1 and mode ver to match, so i tried the sim from the other phone in mine but exactly the same problem "no Service"
From that i think i have been sold a faulty phone and as i bought it on ebay i will have no redress.
The only other possibility is that the guy i bought it from has "done the dirty" and reported the phone stolen and its been switched off by O2, a very expensive lesson.
Any further comments or help would be appreciated, i have thought of using the hammer method, give the phone a quick tap with the hammer lol

Enter the field test mode, dial *3001#12345#* then call. Goto Cell info, see any cell sites listed? Even an unactivated phone will report towers. If you see only one, with an RSSI of 0, then its a bad radio. Same problem I had with a friends phone a few days ago.

If it has been stolen, and its a BL 4.6 phone, use ZiPhone to change the IMEI.

I did an itunes update and a ziphone unlock and still the same no service
sorry for delay in answering, under cell info i have 7 items reading
"RX :54 FQ 55 ST :34 C1 : 24808 N:10 # 234"
there are 7 entries with different readings and these are changing often.
Does this tell you anything

Has anyone tried the bricktool to solve this issue? It worked for me when I unlocked via GEOHOT from Installer.app.

I know, different unlocking technique, but it might work...

Tried Brictool/signalFix but made no difference, in the Field test screen there is an entry PDP this has no info on my fone, no arrow to show more info but on my daughters fone there is info there relating to mobile carrier, can anyone spread any light on this
