Overclocking. Is it safe?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The program that I want to use is batterystatus and Omapclock. But last time I downloaded BatteryStatus it froze my Today screen, so I had to do a hard reset (not soft reset, when I soft reset, it would still freeze on the today screen)

Is there any program that is SAFE to go on my HTC Touch so I can overclock it? If so can you give me a link to the download?

Thanks.

its never safe to overclock anything
there is always a chance of something getting messed up
thats why people who create those programs etc. always say use it at your own risk so the choice is up to the user

Also, it depends on how much you wanna overclock. I have my HTC Wing overclocked to 247 MHz. Not only does it vary by device but it also varies by individual phone. For example, I was able to overclock my original Wing to 273 MHz with no problems. When I try to overclock my current one to 260 or better the screen goes crazy. I suggest starting low and seeing how high you can safely overclock.

I have a QualCOMM Processor on my phone and Omapclock won't work on my processor.

Are there any programs that work for QualCOMM processors?

Unfortunately most of the overclocking software I've seen is for the OMAP850 processor; not sure of any that work with your Qualcomm proc.

I have my MDA overclocked to 240MHz, and it's quite stable.

For the sake of call quality, I used application-specific clocking so I could use the stock clock for camera and phone functions.

same thing happened to me...except i didnt have to hard reset. anyway...i d.led the 1.04 BETA version and its been working good ever since.

my speeds are:
Low - 143
Normal - 201
High - 247
Boost - 273

all running dynamically so it will adjust depending on load which is great

btw, does overclocking affect call quality/phone functions or camera? it seems normal to me.

overclocking shortens the lifetime of the overclocked components
