Hi,

So, anyone tried the new independence? Are there any reason to use ziphone over the new independence or vice versa?

Independence is still beta. But it worked for me as Ziphone didn't. Right now with the beta you have to manually add Installer. Easy enough to do though. Did it all last night and everything worked fine. I did have to SIM unlock twice to get it working though. After all it is still beta.

is there a difference with the unlock / baseband youre left with?

Where is the how to for iNdependence?

Independance (and ZiPhone) unlocks downgrade baseband to 4.2 I believe, and moreover independence doesn't even put Installer.app on there for you -- its a manual step you do after with it...whereas ZiPhone pre-installs Installer.

If you want to unlock 1.1.3 w/ 4.3 baseband you would use AnySim 1.1.3, after using ZiPhone to jailbreak/activate IMHO.

The IPSF and gunlock (based on IPSF) unlocks are half-measures in 1.1.3 -- and need to also have Signal.app and signal.plist loaded to get signal at bootup.

To get 1.1.3 with the 4.3 baseband you need to be on the 3.9 bootloader.

is there anything bad about having 1.1.3 with the 4.2?

Nope, not at all. Just that the Google Maps "locate me" won't work.
