How do I get youtube and the email program to work?

This is an addendum to my problem.

Seems I got my email and youtube problem solve by just choosing the "unlock option" instead of "doing all three (jailbreak/unlock/activate" on ziphone 2.5 unlock for firmware 1.1.4

My iphone was originally activated a long time ago so everytime I would do a restore before running ziphone, it would automatically say "phone activated" without me even running anything.

So I've come down with a second issue (although this is very minor). Seems iTunes will not sync my iphone on the same computer if I use my Tmobile SIM instead of my ATT SIM. I guess I will have to live with that. I think that's the only option I have is to have the phone synced on one computer with one SIM. I will try to synch the other phone on another computer.

I had the same issue where I had it activate when I would do a restore and I tried the solution you described and it would not sync to iTunes. What I did to solve the problem was put the T-Mobile sim in and did a restore and then use Ziphone to unlock, activate, and jailbreak. Worked like a charm for me

Did you downgrade you bootloader Drakken?

Posted by: aneftp

Quick questions.

I unlock/activated/jailbreaked my iphone this afternoon with ziphone 2.5 with firmware 1.1.4.

Say I wanted to downgrade to 1.1.3, or 1.1.2, or 1.1.1 etc. Is it as simple as just putting into recovery mode (hold the sleep/power down button and the home button at the same time, wait for the screen to go black for 2 seconds and than let go of the sleep button while holding onto the home button until the itunes pops up the recover mode message?

Than since I have a mac do I just press the "alt/option button on the mac keyboard while hitting the restore button on itunes" and than I can manually choose my iphone firmware to reinstall?

Is it that simple to downgrade after you've used ziphone 2.5?

If I were to buy a another iphone that came with firmware 1.1.3 do I just put it in DFU mode immediately after opening it and put it into recovery mode by installing 1.1.4 and than unlock/activate the iphone?

Posted by: JosueCebs

Not sure if this has been asked here already...

Are you required to downgrade the bootloader on 1.1.4 in order to unlock?

I tried to -j -u -a on Ziphone 2.5 and when it completed I get no signal. Not No Service, it just doesn't show any Bars or a Carrier or anything. I try to go into settings and select a Network but the Network option doesn't even show..

Any ideas before I just go back to 1.1.3?

Posted by: aneftp

I just noticed this but I only have 7.1GB of free space instead of my usual 7.3GB of free space after using ziphone 2.5 with 1.1.4 firmware.

Posted by: TonNi3

my email doesn't work, everytime i open it, it closes, everything else works except for that, how can you fix it?

Posted by: sweet02nicoLe

my youtube isnt working, i tried the Youtube Activation fix from installer but that didnt work. How do i fix this? thanks

Posted by: all4jo

hey guys im on 1.1.3 unlocked from ziphone. how can i upgrade to 1.1.4 ? i keep hearing restore to 1.1.4 but how do i do that?

Posted by: all4jo

ok well i did a shift click and restored to 1.1.4. no im stuck on please connect to itunes. i tried doing ziphones activate and nothing happened.

Posted by: Lestat_d

I had to run ziphone activate three times for it to take

Posted by: nasa25

i can report I upgraded to 1.1.4 from 1.1.3 without issues. I prefer to do a DFU restore to the new firmware (1.1.4) just to be on the safe side....seems to work a lot better than a regular restore. Only issue is that summerboard isn't compatible with 1.1.4, but besides that everything is working great.

Posted by: billyskip

I just wanted to say I have performed Ziphone unlocking on an AT&T SIM version 1.1.4 and one utillizing a T-Mobile SIM. Worked flawlessly. Be sure to get the newest version of ziphone at http://www.downloadziphone.org/

Summerboard works perfect with 1.1.4. You just have to install the 1.1.4 Compatibility patch from iSpazio.net first to disable the firmware check.

Add the source repo.ispazio.net to get it

Posted by: 88g88g

Just to report that me and my friend both DFU restore to 1.1.4, used Ziphone 2.5 to jailbreak/activate/unlock, everything works fine! And the 1.1.4 Compatibility patch works too!

Posted by: jeffw11

I've got an unlocked iPhone, version 1.0.2, and I'm wondering what I need to do to use ZiPhone to bring it up to 1.1.3 or even 1.1.4.

Do I need to virginize the iphone first and then restore in iTunes and finally run ZiPhone? If I remember correctly, the 1.0.2 hack messed with the baseband and virginizing seemed to fix this.

Right now I have a 1.0.2 iPhone working very well but if I can update it, I'd like to give that a shot.

Any guidance with this would be appreciated.

Posted by: Debwany

I also have a problem with YouTube. I upgraded both my iPhones to 1.1.4...then I used Ziphone to unlock/jailbreak/activate, everything worked except YouTube, so I did some research and saw that it would be fixed if I restore it then use Ziphone again, so I did that. One of them worked and the other didnt....Can anyone help me get Youtube to work??? thanks

Posted by: bryanviper

I just came across this program "ZiPhone" & i'm wondering if its as easy as it looks? Hook up the iphone install software and basically click the button you want and it will do it?? Seems way to easy...there has to be a catch no?

I might be getting an iphone from the USA this week so I would think it would come with version 1.1.4 so this would work on the iphone correct? I'll be using Fido.

Also how long does it take to unlock? a Few mins? Hours?

Thanks For The Help

Posted by: nasa25

i installed the summerboard patch and the program was successfully installed on my phone, however when I change themes on summerboard, it does nothing.....just stays as the stock iphone theme. anyone else have this problem?

Sorry but I have to ask a noob question. How do I get the iphone in DFU mode and what do I do once I have it in that mode. I am running 1.1.3 jailbroke unlocked and activated on tmobile and I really want to upgrade. Any guidance would be appreciated.

1. Put the new iphone 1.1.3 in DFU mode.
2. Go here and download the 1.1.4 firmware
http://iphone.unlock.no/#restore-firmware-files

3. Restore (not update) the iPhone to the new 1.1.4 firmware
When you hit the restore button (depends if you are using a mac or windows)
Shift-Click on RESTORE and select your 1.1.4 file (on Windows)

On Macs hold (ALT/OPTION key) while pressing restore.

Once it restored to 1.1.4 than just run ziphone 2.5

The other option with 1.1.3 new out of the box firmware is just to download ziphone 2.4 and unlock/jailbreak/activate or whatever you want to do.(ziphone 2.4 works very easily with firmware 1.1.3)

The process is very simple. However, since you have a new iPhone Ziphone will downgrade your BL from 4.6 to 3.9

Thanks for the help, does it matter is it downgrades the BL from 4.6 to 3.9, I'm guessing its safe to put the phone into DFU mode and instead of restoring to 1.1.3 (original FW), I would restore to 1.1.4. The reason I'm asking this is because I previously own a 1.0.2 iphone and I put it into DFU mode and restored it to 1.1.1 and the phone completely crashed. It wouldn't turn back on ever again. Also should I use XP or Vista. Thanks in advance.

Did you try using previous ziphone with the iPhone that was updated from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1? or did you use some other hacking program.

Ziphone is pretty simple and I've gotten error messages before (just playing around) but the phone eventually turns on with ziphone hacking method even if you mess up. Just follow the instructions. They are clear cut.

I use a Mac (leopard) but I think there were earlier problems with Vista. I can't truly answer that question for you. Maybe someone else on this board could comment.

As for the BL 4.6 to 3.9 downgrade; I have an old iPhone so that situation did not apply to me. Hopefully someone else can respond to your BL downgrade question.

Posted by: superman17

Is there a way to jailbreak, activate, and unlock the 1.1.3 OTB without downgrading the BL. Maybe in advance options of ziphone

Posted by: VizagDude

Updated my iPhone to FW 1.1.4 using ZiPhone 2.5

Everything is working just fine. Did not notice much difference in the signal strength. Personally, I did not notice much difference between earlier 113 and this one. Again, I am not into much of SMS, so I am not sure about the bug fix.

As always... GREAT Job ZiPhone.

Posted by: Stock Rider

I have the 1.1.2 I guess, I've read a lot, and tried to figure it out, but have to admit it is very hard to get started. It feels like I am running around in circles, so if anyone with sympathy for a Iphone newb can help, I am begging, I have had this thing for more then a few months collecting dust on a shelf. It is 1.1.2 OTB and just please give me a step by step like superman17 got from aneftp for a 1.1.3 OTB. Please and thank you.

Check the sticky by Drakkhen for DFU mode... once you're in DFU, shift-Click on RESTORE and select your 1.1.4 file (on Windows) or with Macs hold (ALT/OPTION key) while pressing restore. Then use Ziphone 2.5 to jailbreak, activate & unlock. Then set as new iphone when you connect to itunes again.

Hope this help!

OK,

I upgraded to 1.1.4 and it's jailbroken (Ziphone 2.5) If I want to downgrade the firmware and baseband to a prev. version, how do you do that I tried every method and the baseband is stll the 1.1.4 version. My phone is the week 31 version so I know I have the 3.9 bootloader CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Posted by: Stock Rider

Success! thanks to 88g88g for the assistance! Working flawlessly, connected wi-fi and checked Maps/Youtube, downloaded songs from Itunes, and everything else I could think off. 1.1.4 and 2.5c total success!

Posted by: mascarafever

Hey all -
I have been sifting through the pages, but haven't located anything yet regarding fixing the sound when using Ziphone to unlock/jailbreak/activate. Did I miss it or has no one figured it out yet?

Also - does anyone know how I would be able to download an older version of iTunes that would not detect my "illegal" SIM card? I have tried to do this several times, but right at the end it tells me that I have a newere version, so it can't finish the download. Can anyone help? I trired removing the app from my computer, already, but to no avail did an older version of iTunes work.

Thanks!

Posted by: superman17

Anyone know if you use ziphone2.5c and go into advanced options and ONLY click on jailbreak, activate and unlock will downgrade the 4.6BL to 3.9BL. Instead of clicking on the "do it all" button thanks in advance.

Posted by: timfrost

Ok. I have an OOTB 16Gig. Trying to use ZiPhone 2.5C but ITunes doesn't recognize the phone. Please help. Thanx.

I am currently unlocked with the Geo-IPSF unlock (signal.app required). Does ZiPhone also required the Signal.app, i.e. is it based on the Geo-IPSF unlock? If not, I may as well get rid of the IPSF unlock and use ZiPhone instead to get rid of the need for the Signal.app.

Is there anything besides the bootloader downgrade that is irreversible using ZiPhone?

Thanks....

Use ZiPhone 2.5c. No everything is reversible.

Posted by: floepie

Thanks, Geek. Is there any reason to hold onto the Geo-IPSF unlock? I can undo that with his included tools.

On the one hand, Geo's unlock should in theory stand the test of time via multiple firmwares. But, on the other hand, this signal.app business seems a bit of a pain and leads to longer boot times.

Geek.dll - just out of curiosity - how would I reverse the changes made by ziphone 2.5c?
I just unlocked the phone using 2.5c (1.1.4 version on the phone). I had to unlock becuase I could not get the signal with just jailbreak.
So it is possible to restore a phone to the such a state that apple won't find out my phone was unlocked?
THank you.

Ziphone has a Restore Locks button. This should restore iPhone to a state where Apple can service it. I've never tried it so I don't know if it actually works.

'nother observation, it sounds like there is no apparent material disadvantage to downgrading the BL to 3.9. I had to downgrade my BL to 3.9 in order to get my AT&T Service back when I used the Jailbreak+Activation button on my 4GB version (I'd previously used the hacktheiphone method to JB+Activate my 1.0 iPhone and hadn't upgraded since).

Before you run ziphone and click the "do it all" to unlock an OTB1.1.3 do we take the ATT sim out and put whatever network were going to use it with or just leave the ATT sim in. thanks

I'm guessing it would be the same steps with a 1.1.4 8gb iphone?

You can leave it in or take it out it doesn't matter what or if there a sim card in it.

Install the community sources. That will add some good sources to start with. Also install BSD subsystem before you install anything else.

After you jailbreak it just connect it to itunes and set it up in itunes as a new iPhone and sync it then restart it then join your wifi network you should be good after that.

ZiPhone makes this way too easy...i feel cheated that i only had to click one button...kudos to the developers of this

I need info on downgrading the bootloader. Does it have to be done to jailbreak or only to unlock?

What do you mean 'set it up in itunes as a new iPhone'?

I am choosing the "Do It All" Option in ziphone 2.5c.

When ziphone is done, it restarts and connects to itunes and itunes asks for the iPhone's name. I click done, and it seems to be finished.

The Wi-Fi wont connect and I cannot use installer.

Posted by: krs71

is it me or is the new jailbreak and unlock making the iphone allot more unstable, I get weird behavior from my phone at times, like it goes blank when hitting the home button after briefly showing the screen.........

Posted by: haridsv

I first used "The Verginizer" to relock my 1.0.2 firmware and restored straight to 1.1.4. Then upgrade itunes, used ziphone to unlock and restored my iphone and it is back with all my contacts. I am now trying to reinstall all my apps and this seems to be the most troubling part with Installer failing to retrieve packages etc. Reboot seems to help as the downloads now start but fail before it completes. Hoping it is temporary issue.

Update: I tried to reset network settings and that seems to do the trick, I am able to now install packages. Safari, youtube etc. work, I just have to now figure out how to restore the tzones.

Im posting here because nobody really helped me in the thread i started so heres my issue.

DFU restore to 1.1.4 with itunes, phone restarted and froze, so i put it in recovery mode so ziphone 2.5c would detect the phone, than ran "do it all" ziphone did its thing, iphone reset so i closed ziphone. itunes never connected to my iphone after i ran ziphone 2.5c and my iphone is frozen on the main screen with the "edit home screen" message popped up.

the phone is only about 3 weeks old.

Was this a brand new phone you brought or did you buy it off craigslist or ebay unlocked? What firmware version was on this 3 week iPhone?

Just to double check, you Restored and did not Update? Is that correct. Are you using the windows or mac version?

This depends. You should have read the instructions from ZiPhone very closely. ZiPhone downgrades your BL from 4.6 to 3.9.

This is a moot point if you have a week 45 iPhone or earlier because those came with the 3.9BL so there's nothing to downgrade.

however Week 45 phones and higher have the 4.6 BL and Apple will know if you sent it in that it has the wrong BL version and will probably void your warranty.

its was brand new 1.1.3 w/ 4.6bl and yes it was restored not updated, and windows OS. i had it unlocked with 1.1.3 but than i was having the same freezing problems so i figured i would try 1.1.4 but am having no luck. im ready to sell the phone if i cant figure it out

Posted by: Drakkhen

I'm willing to buy it if you can't figure it out

Let's see if we can get this working first, ok?

You're trying to unlock your phone on 1.1.4?

Are you familiar with getting your phone into DFU mode?

L

Posted by: SocALTEZZA

yes drakkhen and yes i am very familiar with dfu mode, and yes im trying to unlock 1.1.4

Posted by: Drakkhen

Ok...

And you're still at BL 4.6, or did you downgrade your baseband already? Do you want to do that, or do you want keep the same BL?

Posted by: SocALTEZZA

well i thought ziphone 2.5c automatically downgrades it if its 4.6? if not i really dont care i just want my phone working.

Posted by: Drakkhen

Well then, DFU restore to 1.1.4 TWICE - and then ziphone it, just have it do everything for you (I think it's the first button). Did you get an error or something before when you run it?

L.

Posted by: SocALTEZZA

nope never got an error, but ziphone never said it was "done"

Posted by: Drakkhen

instead of running the gui, try running command line 'ziphone -b'

Posted by: SocALTEZZA

so run command line ziphone -b than run ziphone gui do it all?

i am having some problems and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used ziphone 2.5 to jailbreak my 1.1.3 iPhone, I did not unlock because I am with Cingular. This is the first time trying to jaibreak my phone since I had 1.0.2. everything from ziphone seemed to work fine but my problem is that everytime I try to download the BSD subsystem and some other apps from installer I get an error message saying the package download failed. does anyone know how can fix this problem or install apps another way besides installer? I want to get Apollo on my phone and it requires the BSD subsystem.

Posted by: Drakkhen

actually -b should do everything for you

Posted by: SocALTEZZA

drakkhen-

No luck, still getting frozen home screen.

I also want to add that I've already read around and tried clearing the queue and doing soft reboots but it hasn't helped. So I am lost at this point. I was also wondering how I would go about upgrading to 1.1.4? would I just update to 1.1.4 using iTunes then use zihone to jailbreak again? After reading around it seems the processes for this would bedifferent for me since I am a AT&T subscriber and only want to add 3rd party apps.

was in the same position but all the problems were resolved when I choose "do it all" - and unlocked the phone.

Hey what do you expect. You knew in advance that ZiPhone would downgrade your BL from 4.6 to 3.9.

The guy who made ZiPhone clearly states this on his website and on the detailed instructions.

Don't tell me you weren't fully informed.

ZiPhone is great otherwise.

Successfully upgraded to 1.1.4... everything works great.
here's a quick question... do I need to install anything after upgrading? BSD or any of that stuff? What's the benefit of installing it? And also, can someone suggest some games or apps that would be good time killers
thanks!

Hi all,

I don't post very often, but I finally need some assistance. I have a 1.1.2 otb jailbroken phone. My carrier is ATT. I went to the ziphone site to download ziphone for mac. It doesn't seem to be working. Tried to download 2.5c to my macbook, but no go. I am running Tiger on my macbook. Is ziphone for mac, only for leopard?

Posted by: ruffdeezy

just used ziphone 2.5c. Went from 1.0.2 to 1.1.4. Worked like a charm, everything works perfectly.

Posted by: smi2710

hi there i hve been thru all the reading but still a lil confused

to jailbreak my iphone 1.1.4 modem firmware 04.04.05_G

i think i hve to restore my phone and then run ziphone2.5c correct?

now i jsut went thru and added my contacts (alot) but i did sync to my itunes on my mac leopard machine

when i restore it will go back to default and clear the phone right ?

then i run ziphone?

then i after its installed i can then resync my iphne with itunes and all contacts will be back?

also what is this dfu i have to do

i found a great step by step for independence but nne for ziphone on mac

all help is apprecitated or step by step for zihone

ll i want to do is jailbreak my phone as i am with ATT no need to unlock it

thanks

Posted by: dsigma6

Unlocking/jailbreaking/activating on 1.02 was a bit of a pain. My next upgrade, 1.1.1, wasn't nearly as difficult.

I finally decided to upgrade to 1.1.4, and this was by far the easiest upgrade. Click. You're done.

Posted by: smi2710

ok so i found a good step by step

http://www.iphonehacks.com/2008/03/youtube-fix.html

however i downloaded the 1.1.4 retore folder and put it on the desktop unzipped

and when i go to option restore and try to find this file
iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4a102_restore"

theres none in the folder i only see a restore.plist

wheres is the file i need to restore with?

thanks

Posted by: JosueCebs

I made a new thread for this but I figure I should ask here as well (probably should've just asked here to begin with but oh well)...

Has anyone used the Change IMEI feature in ZiPhone?
1) Does it work with BL3.9 and 4.6 under 1.1.4?
2) If so, can you manually set what you want the IMEI to be?
and last but not least,
3) Is it reversible?

Any info is appreciated.

Posted by: smi2710

ok so after getting impaitent

i just connect iphone to itunes hit retore then backed it up and hen it was done i copied everything back to phone closed down itunes

and ran ziphone just to jailbreak it

and i was done in two minutes

and youtube even works without the fix and wifi is fine and everything seems ok

The upgrade was so easy...but figuring out how to get programs to work was another (without looking for help here or posting). I figured things out though! It's nice to have a fresh start, and the only thing I've yet to install is Customize. I'm waiting for a compatible version to appear on Installer again. The 1.1.3/1.1.4 compatibility patch has been helpful.

Posted by: netrokid

Make sure the firmware file you download is not unzipped. If you are on a MAC, you may want to use Firefox. Safari tends to automatically unzip the file. It needs to end with ".ipsw"

Is anyone else having trouble with the window's version of Ziphone? Downloaded it, but when I went to unzip I get an error. I have net2.0 installed too...

i'm currently running on a unlocked and jailbroken iphone on 1.1.1 and wanna upgrade to 1.1.4... is ziphone my solution???

can anyone explain to me what i need to do???

i'm going to get a 16gb soon and i wanted to know if there are any versions of ziphone that will jailbreak 1.1.4 without downgrading the BL? just in case i need to send it back

My situation was the same as yours. If it was 1.1.1 from the factory, just update the firmware to 1.1.4 and then use ziphone 2.5c (I believe that's the newest) and click the option to unlock, jailbreak and activate. It's really that easy. If your phone was 1.02 from the factory, I believe you'll have to virginize or some ****, but I'm not versed on that (thankfully).

Posted by: nvinfamouschase

my phone from factory was 1.1.2 but out of nowhere it just started saying it was 1.1.1 i dont know how that happen... but i'll be sure to give it a try later on... thanks

Hi, all
I don't have iphone yet, but I download the ziphone2.5, then I run ziphonegui.exe on Windows xp(I just try to launch it), I got the error message:

This appliaction has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Anyone knows how to fix it. Thank you so much.

Just run the "ZiPhoneWin-2.5c.exe" file again the GUI will start up after you unzip it. You have to run "ZiPhoneWin-2.5c.exe" file and unzip everytime you want to use ZiPhone.

Just restore your iPhone with firmware 1.1.4 then use ZiPhone 2.5c and select the do it all option and that will unlock and jailbreak your iphone and installer installer app there links to guides on the wiki page check it out

If you are using Ziphone you can unlock it and still restore it if you need to service it. But if you are running bootloader 4.6 don't downgrade.

yeah im using 4.6

i dont get it..it jailbreaks and passes that activation screen but will not pick up a signal at all

has anyone using T-Mobile and a hacked iphone 1.0.2, used ZiPhone to upgrade to 1.1.3 or 1.1.4?

If so, did you have to virginize the iphone first and were you able to get the T-Zones internet hack working?

Ziphone sounds like a great hack but I don't want to brick my iphone.

And another question is when I go to ziphone.org and dowload the program all I get is script I kno im probally missing something fairly simple but if someone could helo id greatly appreciate it.

I tried reseting the network settings and that worked temporarily but now I am having the same problem again. Just wondering if anyone has run across this. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone jailbroken and activated their phone while still using at&t on 1.1.4, 4.6BL and is receiving a signal on their phone?

Posted by: jimbob 205

Hi everyone
I am about to get an Iphone and I'm looking to unlock it but I have been told if I do apple will update my phone and then it wont work at all is this true?

Posted by: Drakkhen

Apple won't update your phone. You will through iTunes though, and if you do update, you we re-lock your phone.

Currently the unlocks and jailbreaks are up-to date, but weather you will be able to jailbreak and unlock future releases really depends on how much apple decideds to change between releases, and WHAT they change.

L.

Posted by: jimbob 205

So I guess itunes gives you the option to update and doesnt just do it automaticly?
If you dont run the updates in itunes will you still be able to add songs and things?

Posted by: Jovian

yes u will still be able to do everything...all updates are optional

Posted by: Alphastream

Hi all,

I searched a bit but could not find clear answers.

I am on 1.1.2 which has been jailbroken. The phone was 1.1.1 originally, and was jbd and then updated with jb. I have several custom apps (which I am ok with reinstalling and or losing).

I have not done anything to 1.1.3, waiting to see what happened.

Can I just run ZiPhone 2.5c? Or should I first upgrade iTunes and let iTunes upgrade my phone to 1.1.4?

Thanks!

Posted by: Drakkhen

RESTORE to 1.1.4 - DO NOT UPGRADE to 1.1.4 - you will lose all you data on your phone, but in the long run you'll definately run into less bugs.

No major problems for me, though I do notice that once in a while, when I turn off my phone, I will get no signal, so I either put it into airplane mode briefly or re-boot.... I know one thing: I haven't dropped a call since updating to 1.1.4 9jailbroken) [knocks on wood] like I did all the time w/ jailbroken 1.1.3

Okay, so I'm about to pick up my 16GB iPhone from Canada post and I'm going to go ahead and unlock with ZiPhone 2.5c later on today.

A few things I want to clarify before doing the above:

1. The phone should be 1.13 ootb, so can I go ahead and update via iTunes?

2. Should I just stick with the 4.6 baseband or downgrade to 3.9? It's reasonable to assume that ZiPhone will fully support it without flaw sometime down the road... Or not?

3. There was an ZiPhone walkthrough on iClarified indicating that after doing the previously mentioned, to change the locale if we're in an unsupported conuntry... Is Canada unsupported? There's an auto utility that does that available from iClarified... Also, there was another thing regarding the BSD subsystem... Does ZiPhone also do this?

Please let me know!

Posted by: Jovian

1. Yes
2. Ziphone is going to downgrade to 3.9. Doesn't matter though...phone functionality is the same with either baseband.
3.?

Posted by: wake6830

Using ziphone 2.5c, I accidentally chose "do-it-all," which although it worked fine was unnecessary since I have a legit AT&T sim.

I have since tried to just restore to a regular 1.1.4, non-jailbroken install, but through a number of tries I have been unsuccessful. I wind up with one of two scenarios:

1) Full signal bars, edge activation, but can't get out of emergency call mode. Can, however, make and receive calls just fine.

2) Completely flat signal bars. Own number doesn't show up in phone. Can't make or receive calls.

I'm not sure what to do now that I haven't already tried. I have DFU'd using ziphone and then restored in iTunes to 1.1.4. I've refurbished in ziphone and then restored in iTunes. Neither works.

I have the same issue. I have to start the locate me app and then built in google locate will work until I reboot. Rinse and repeat.

The battery meter on my iphone constantly shows only 10% remaining. If i plug it into the charger or the computer and take it off it pops up with the 10% battery remaining and then shuts off. I have 1.1.4 and i used ziphone to unlock, jailbreak and activate the phone.
When i lock the phone back up the battery meter seems to work fine. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Posted by: jsh22TUAKRON

Activated, Unlocked, Jailbroken...with no service.

I am waiting for my Verizon account to expire. In the meantime Im trying to figure out why my wifi isnt working.

My laptop and PC are connected just fine. But my iphone shows a connection but wont let me do anything.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I have an old old unlocked 1.1.1 that was unlocked before the method of "virginizing" the iphone was used. I paid some guy to do it and he said if I was to upgrade properly, I would need to do a complete restore or something? So, I want to upgrade to the newest fw now. what must I do? and which version of itunes do I use? will ZiPhone work or will I need something else?

thanks,

What does the new 2.0 Firmware Bring thats different from 1.1.4?

just upgraded from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 with ziphone 2.5c. After I did it, the mail program kept crashing everytime i opened it. So i put the iphone into dfu mode with ziphone, restored and unlocked again and now everything works perfectly.

However, since you have a new iPhone Ziphone will downgrade your BL from 4.6 to 3.9

worked great!

Hi Guys/Girls

Battery life is terrible for 1.1.3, 1.1.4 AFTER unlocking with Ziphone! The question is:

1. Is this because the new firmware?
2. Is this because Ziphone?

Please share your opinion/experience.

Thank you,

It's the firmware. The general consensus is that Apple tweaked power management to increase signal strength at the expense of battery life.

Posted by: chinese_fury

In response to the battery life question, make sure that you have SSH app turned off. After updating to 1.1.4 - I also noticed a significant battery drain, but discovered that by default SSH is on (check by install BossPrefs app) and then by turning it off it dramatically preserves the battery life.

What I am uncomfortable with is not having the option to go back to a normal, legit phone. I like having my phone jailbroken now, but I may not at some point in the future.

When your iscons "jiggle" there should be a small delete button on the Zibris icon.

Hi Wake6830,

You can use Iplus. It doesn't mess up with the baseband or the moderm of the phone at all. You can get this software by googling "Iplus"

Hope this helps

You guys do know that Ziphone 2.6b has been released and works perfectly with 1.1.4 firmware? Get it here:

Posted by: Wade33Zo

I really need help over here fellas. iTunes is not letting me "update and restore" to 1.1.4. It keeps saying "an unknown error has occurred". Does anyone know why this is?

Can you guys tell me the correct way to go about things with ZiPhone? I downloaded ZiPhone V2.6b. I bought a refurbished iPhone with 1.1.3 from an at&t store that apparently has been activated already (it does not say "connect to iTunes", I have a home screen). So from here I only need to jailbreak and unlock to work on T-Mobile, correct? Do I click on "do it all" or what?

Posted by: cingular#1

first you DFU restore to 114.

To do this enter DFU mode...this can be done in ZiPhone or iLiberty. (Assuming your on windows)

Once you DFU restore to 1.1.4, just hit do it all or w/e

I personally do not recommend using ZiPhone, but w/e

1.Use iTunes to RESTORE your iPhone not Update
2.Ziphone will downgrade it automatcally if you pick "Do it all"
3.After your phone is finished go to the installer icon on the home screen and install a package called "BSD Subsystem". I think that this allows you to install other apps on your phone. As for Cananda being an "unsupported" I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about that.

I was hoping someone could help me. I just ordered a refurb 8gb iphone from att. I'm assuming it comes with 1.1.4 OTB. If this is the case, do I just select Do it All if I wanna use it with tmobile? The part I'm confused about is (among many things) the bootloader or baseband part. Do I need to check which version I have before I run ziphone? Also, whats the purpose of restoring to 1.1.4 through itunes if it already has 1.1.4 OTB? Does it have to do with using shift+restore in windows? Please help! Thanks! Btw, I know how to use search function--I just need to be sure.

The bootloader and baseband part has to do with do you care about warranty. If you don't mind losing your warranty just plug it in and click "do it all" and it will run fine on T-Mobile. What it does is it downgrades the bootloader. Other than voiding your warranty there is really no difference that I have found for downgrading the bootloader.

Posted by: hapablap

So, on my 1.1.4 OTB I would need to downgrade the bootloader before I select Do it all?

No. The do it all function will do it for you.

I had the same problem with ziphone 2.5c, unless I chose the do-it-all option.

I just bought the 8gig iphone from the 5th ave. apple store. Now I'm on my way to unlock it. I understand the overall process but I still some clues. The phone's firmware is 04.04.05_G. Which version is that? ( I'm not sure but I think 1.4? ) Do I have to remove the original sim card that is already inside the iphone? And my most important question is what is the order of the operations you need to do to unlock the phone? Because some people talk about restore mode, the upgrading, then downgrading? Can someone explain the whole thing in a few words. Thank you. I appreciate your time

I have what is, seemingly, a very stupid question. I had to unlock my phone when I downloaded the new versions that iTunes was offering me, which locked my phone right back up. So, I unlocked it all over again. I have read that doing this over & over again is not good for the phone, so I have been negligent to plug it back into my computer. I don't regularly change my iPod selection (classic rock, what can i say? ha), so I haven't had to deal with this until now. Sooo, my question is basically this: when I plug it in again, will the phone be locked back up???

Thanks & much appreciation!!!

Just answering my own question, since others asked it. You can upgrade iTunes before doing the restore. If you are happy with your version (such as 1.1.2), then you can just run ZiPhone. If you want to upgrade to a newer version, then you restore via iTunes first (upgrade iTunes, then click on Restore in iTunes) and then run ZiPhone. Restoring will result in loss of any current files, songs, apps, etc., but is the clean way to upgrade and jailbreak/unlock.

I'm not an expert, and this is all based on what I have read and heard. Corrections appreciated.

I found these links helpful:

http://www.ziphone.org/ (Site with the software - check for latest version).

Various tutorials (Warning, these sites have other tutorials that are outdated, and these may become outdated as well. So, it is good to read these, then look at the rest of the site for any newer version for your platform).

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=746 (Basic Windows tutorial, also read the help section in the ZiPhone software itself. It assumes you are doing a full unlock. You can select different options to just jailbreak the phone.)

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=747 also see
http://hacktheiphoneitouch.blogspot...hones-with.html (Mac tutorial with ZiPhone - Note: this does not include the step on Restoring, so the process will just unlock your current phone version. Also, it assumes you are doing a full unlock. You can select different options to just jailbreak the phone.)

Open up iTunes and go to Edit and Preferences. The last tab should be Syncing. Select the box to disable automatic syncing. Once that is done, you do not need to worry about plugging in your iPhone. It won't sync or upgrade without your asking it to do so.

The firmware, such as 0.04.05_G, is different from the version. Firmware is probably something you can ignore unless you really have your geek on.

Version should be visible in the iPhone when you click on settings, general, about. The Version should say something like 1.1.4 and then some in parentheses. This is very important in deciding whether you can just run ZiPhone without having to upgrade (via restore) beforehand.

I am not aware of any need to remove the sim card. See my earlier post where I pulled together some links that walk through the process. The gurus on this forum have gone quiet, so I'm trying to do my best to contribute. My advice is to read through everything a good 10 times, then ask questions, then go back and make sure new versions aren't out, then run the process.

my phones acting screwy and i want to re-unlock it with ziphone. as i understand it, i need to go into itunes and upgrade to the latest firmware first, then run ziphone. but my phones already unlocked with turbosim

i always thought that if you upgrade your firmware through itunes while your phone is unlocked with turbosim or anysim, the phone will brick. is this not true?

also are people still having problems with things like youtube not working?

Posted by: jwmcgee1

What has happened to ZiPhone? Their downloads seem to be down for the last couple of days.

I was just able to download it, the windows version. Anyone else having problems?

Posted by: SpAcEmAn SpLiFF

ok so im lookin at ziphones options right now. my situation is that my phones not working real well with turbosim (i cant text message people), so i want to reunlock it with ziphone instead. i feel like if i were to use just a sim card without that adapter thing, i might be fine.

do i wanna just click "do it all"? or do i wanna do that restore/refurbish option first to start from scratch?

and will doing all this erase all the music/contacts/notes off my phone?

thanks guys

Posted by: SpAcEmAn SpLiFF

also, do i no longer need to update to 1.1.4 on my own through itunes? it doesnt say to in the instructions

Posted by: inspector

just out of curiosity - would I be able to upgrade to 2.0 once it comes out? I have unlocked the iphone using ziphone and am running 1.1.4 version.

Posted by: Drakkhen

Nobody can say for sure until it comes out - you should know that by now - I'm sure you will be 'able' to - whether it will continue to work is a completely different game. I'm going to say that the upgrade is going to lock your phone, and you're going to have to re-unlock it with a newer version of ZiPhone or iPlus...that's just my guess, as it has been this way since any upgrade from 1.0.2

Yes it will. But it is a small price to pay for a working iPhone.

You can just run ZiPhone, but I would not expect it to solve the issues already there (it might, but I wouldn't count on it).

Restoring is the option you want to get back to an unlocked state and the latest version. You would restore, then run ZiPhone.

Best of luck!

Hi, Apple had just exchanged an 8GB iPhone, with OTB 1.1.3, updated to 1.1.4, I have AT&T, I just want to have it unlocked with 2.6b, I would go into the advanced settings and check the unlock box only, will this still downgrade my bootloader?

Hey everyone.. I would reccomend using iPlus for now because of BL issues. I haven't read through this whole thread but I'm assuming they've been addressed (4.6 --> 3.9 vs 3.9FB).

It works, but warranty wise - you can restore to factory settings but Mr. Apple knows that 16GBs only shipped with 4.6. So unless you're amazing at opening up iPhones and performing the testpoint upgrade, then you should really consider using iPlus.

I am trying to get Zibri to switch to the FB, but doesn't look likely.

IS the refurbish button the same as doing a restore via iTunes?

Posted by: Zuber Speed

Any problems using ziphone on 1.0.2 -> 1.1.3 or 1.1.4?

Ive never used ziphone, but i assume its pretty straight forward even on a 3.9BL

Restore to 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 in itunes
run ziphone (jailbreak/unlock/active)
done

Am i missing something?

Ive only ever unlocked 3.9BL

is anybody esle only getting ZiPhone 2.5b instead of 2.5c from http://www.downloadziphone.org/? I just went through the whole upgrade process and when I went to sync it with iTunes, I get to this screen and I can't select either one: . I then went to my setting and realized that 2.5b only upgraded me from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3. It seems as if iTunes see's my phone is connected, but does not want to let me sync it. Anyone have the 2.5c file that they would like to share? I'm lucky that I can make calls right now, but I have none of my contacts or anything else. Thanks!

This quote was taken from this thread:

If you have the 4.6 bootloader performing a ziphone "do it all" will downgrade the bootloader to 3.9 and your warrnty will be voided because you can't reverse that from what I understand.

My question is if your iphone comes with the 3.9 bootloader, and you use ziphone do it all, will your warranty still be void? Is it possible to use ziphone and then restore the phone to factory settings and keep the warranty active? or does using ziphone automatically mean warranty will be void?

Thanks

I hope this question wasn't asked already, but I've been playing around with my iphone again I clicked do it all in ziphone 2.5c but had unlocked unchecked does that mean that when I clicked do it all it didnt unlock or by clicking do it all just overides what is checked or unchecked.

I'm asking cause everything is running fine youtube, wifi, mail. I just want to know if I'm unlocked sim wise.

When I did this the first time I had unlock checked and youtube wouldnt work.

Thanks

Just got a refurb ATT Iphone and tried to unlock it using zIphone Version 2.6b. The OS is windows XP Pro and iphone software is 1.1.1. zIphone seemed to work fine, but after it is completed, I get a "no service" with Tmobile sims.
I have rerun zIphone, again w/o luck.

I tried multiple tMO sims w/o luck. THe sims work fine on Tmobile phones (unlocked wing , nokia etc). Any suggestions would be appricated.

Update: I did a upgrade to 1.1.4 firmware and then run iPlus 2.0b. IT worked like a charm first time around.

hey guys, I'm using ZiPhone 2.6 to jailbreak my phone version 1.1.4. The process went well, but when I'm trying to install anything from "installer" it would said error " download package failed"! anyone experiencing the same problems? my iPhone modem firmware is 04.04.04_G

Posted by: smi2710

usually when that happens you have too clear the queue in installer and retry

or its not letting you because you need to install something else first

IE: update/patch/ add-on etc....

then it will let youinstall what you re looking for

good luck
