Assigning MP3 From SD card

Hey Every-Body!

I have a quick question that i wanna ask! I hope its not too Newb! :P

I have the S640 and i want to know if anyone has been able to Assign a Ringtone (Mp3) Directly from the SD card without copying it to the actual device?

I'm a little of a Memmory space freak Wanna run everyhting off the mem card

it seems the phone will auto-find any ringtone put into the /my ringtones folder. there is storage ram in the phone for most of these folders, but i do see the reason to offload it to the SD card in case you have lots of ringtones.

there might be a way to move the location of that folder to the SD card using a reg edit.

I'll take look later when I have my usb wire to see if I can come up with the reg key and any mods for it.

(btw ... this adding z's to the end of words to sound cool is ultra annoying...heh)

No need to hack the registry.

Place the MP3 on your storage card or wherever (note - I'm actually doing this w/ a WMA, but I THINK it will work for an MP3 as well).

Create a shortcut to your MP3 file.

Place the shortcut in your ringtones folder. It will then show up in the your list of ringtone settings.
