Downgrading the bootload, disadvantage?

What disadvantages are there to downgrading the BL to 3.9?

is it safe to assume that 3.9 is a better bootloader and everyone should downgrade?

I hear conflicting things. One says do it, downgrade. A downside though is I hear you cant UPDATE it.
I also hear that I should keep it and NOT downgrade. I posted this to figure out specifically why it may or may not be a good idea.

well 3.9 has less security. So in theory it should be easier to crack future firmwares and basebands with that bootloader? Am I correct to assume that?
