I can not get my iphone to get into recovery mode. I held down the home button and the phone reboots, but does not go into recovery mode. Any one else know how to get into this mode?

First turn the phone off by holding on the sleep/wake button at top of iPhone. iPhone will ask you to slide to turn off. Do it.

Then hold down the home button. As you hold down the home button, connect the USB cable. iPhone will boot up in recovery mode

You actually always want DFU mode (black screen on iphone) instead of normal restore mode (USB connector icon on iphone); when doing a firmware upgrade/downgrade -- and best shot at 1-time fix.

Check guides/google on how to get into DFU mode instead of normal restore mode; we can't stress this enough as a subtle fix to the problems people have.
