ZiPhone 2.3 Help Please!

So I upgraded to 1.0.2 OTB to 1.1.3 via iTunes, then ran my phone through ZiPhone 2.3. The process finished, I put my Rogers SIM in and..voila it says CAN Rogers Wireless Inc. at the top left! BUT...it still says "slide for emergency" on my iPhone. What do I do now?

EDIT: I just made a call in Emergency mode, and it worked fine, but how do I get past the "slide for emergency" screen?

What steps did you take exactly? Did you use the GUI or Command line (PC or Mac?) Did you upgrade the phone in Restore mode or DFU mode?

It sounds like you did not activate the phone. Also, try a reboot. If that doesn't work, run it again and check the activate box.

I help the Power and Home button down until the apple logo appeared, let go of the sleep but held on to the home button, then the cable sign and itunes logo screen appeared. I restored to 1.1.3 via iTunes. Then I downloaded ZiPhone, used the GUI, selected activate, unlock, jailbreak, downgrade bootloader and flash/unlock 4.0.3, iErase 3.9 baseband, and clicked start. All of this was done on a PC, without any SIM in it. It recognizes my Rogers SIM, I'm able to make/receive calls in emergency mode, but I can't get past the "slide for emergency" screen.

I tried to turn off the phone completely "slide to power off", then turned it back on and it still didn't work. So I ran it through ZiPhone and only clicked Activate, and I still have the same issue. Should I try restoring to 1.1.3 via itunes and try the whole process over again? Also, should I only select activate, unlock, jailbreak, and not "Downgrade bootloader and flash/unlock 4.03" or "iErase 3.9 baseband"?

Try restoring you phone through iTunes in DFU mode. Then when that's all done, use ZiPhone 2.3 in command line (I don't trust that GUI).

DFU mode.

Power down your iPhone.
Next, hold the Power & Home button.
Next, when you see the Apple logo RELEASE the Power button while still HOLDING the Home button.
Next, keep HOLDING the Home button and open iTunes.

The iPhone Screen should still be black and iTunes will prompt you to fix the device. So go back to 1.1.3.

Video to see what to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiTcKMZfyfk

Command Prompt (PC): Put a ZiPhone folder on your desktop (makes it easier for newbies)

Go to Start>Run> (type) cmd

The command prompt should now be open.

Type in this:

cd desktop\ZiPhone

The folder should now be open in the command prompt.

Next type:

ziphone

The program should now be open in the command prompt.
To run the program from the command prompt, this is what I did.
(I have a 1.1.3 16GB out of the box, I didn't downgrade the BootLoader)

I typed:

ziphone -D -u -a -j

These 4 commands put the device into DFU mode again, unlocked the phone(downgraded the Baseband to 4.02, I don't care about google locate me to within 500 blocks), activated the phone, and jailbroke the phone.

Now in your case, you probably downgraded your BootLoader to 3.9
Cause from what I understood so far when you downgraded the bootloader it automatically unlocked it.

So you would probably type: (someone correct me if I'm wrong please)

ziphone -D -a -j

Was your 1.0.2 phone unlocked before your restore?
I think you need to virginize your phone first before you restore to 1.1.3...

I think that is your problem. You should not check every box. If you notice the "downgrade bootloader and flash/unlock 4.0.3" is doing the unlock. I would check simply that box, and run it. Then I would select activate and jailbreak. You are doing everything too many times.

Thanks..after many tries I now have an unlocked, jailbroken, activated iPhone! I highly recommend ZiPhone GUI 2.3, as it did not work on 2.2. The only issue now is Apps aren't downloading..but I can live with it!

Dhendriksen:

I have a 1.0.2 with BL 3.9. I just upgraded to 1.1.1 but still locked because I have an existing cingular account. To upgrade to 1.1.3, I just need to cmd "-j -a"? Is this correct?

To upgrade to 1.1.3 you need to connect to iTunes and upgrade to 1.1.3. Then do the ZiPhone stuff.

Right, right. After the itunes upgrade, I just use the -j -a, correct? I have been reading alot of posts about this upgrade and they were having little to big issues and I just wanted to cover all the bases. Thanks.

Does anybody know by any chance how to get the Installer working? It would be nice to have..

don't update in iTunes, use restore to 1.1.3 from dfu mode and set up as new phone in iTunes; else problem risk

could you elborate about what you mean by not updating through itunes but to restore via dfu mode? Is there a link to download the 1.1.3 firmware??

Posted by: b33f

Did you have to virginize your phone first?... or did ziphone do that for you?

Posted by: Lestat_d

Updating through iTunes tries to retain existing settings, files, etc -- it doesn't leave you in as virgin a state as a restore. Further, when you do the restore to 1.1.3 you want to use DFU mode and not the normal restore mode -- which is a lower level access mode, and less potential for issues, based on experience.

ZiPhone 2.3 now has under 'advanced options' a menu button to put your phone in DFU mode. You would use that, and then shift/option click 'restore' in iTunes -- selecting the 1.1.3 firmware. When done, you would tell iTunes to set it up as a new phone, rather than reloading backup settings -- as again doing so can cause problems with sound, youtube, mail crashes, et al.

As long as folks DFU restore to 1.1.3 instead of upgrading, and also select 'new' phone setup rather than reload settings -- there is much less potential for all the hiccups people are reporting.

1.1.3 firmware is everywhere on the net for download -- google is your friend.

Also, I would only use ZiPhone to downgrade bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9, jailbreak or activate; but not use its unlock -- which will downgrade your baseband from 4.3 to 4.2. Its better to use AnySim 1.1.3 after jailbreak/activate IMHO and stay at 4.3 baseband.

2.2 gui worked great for me....although I was on a 3.9 bootloader and upgrading from 1.0.2 ( so I just had to check jailbreak activate and unlock).

Do I need wifi to get anysim 1.3? I am at school and want to upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.1.3 but dont have any wireless internet. Will it just be in my installer or will I need to add the source?

Posted by: crd945

I dfu restored to 1.1.3, and then used ziphone 2.3 to jailbreak, activate and unlock. Everything works perfectly. I tried to use anysim but it wouldnt download. It ended up working with the ziphone unlock.
I am now in 1.1.3
with modem firmware 04.03.13_g thanks to ziphone unlock. I thought it brought you back to 4.02? I guess not

Posted by: Syous

@crd945
If you already have the 3.9 BL then it won't bring you back to 4.02 FW

Posted by: crd945

Good to know.. I thought it was a fluke
