hi, i have a k1m w/ verizon, mpt works fine and so does pst, but anytime any other program (p2kcommander, p2kseem, p2ktools, msu) tries connecting to the phone it automatically crashes. all i want to do is some simple file transfers. i'm connecting through usb. i'm pretty sure the bluetooth works, so if there's a way to file transfer through bluetooth that would work too, but i'm pretty sure that is blocked without a seem edit which i can't do.

Hello.
Please try the following for P2K Commander.
1. Download 4.9D and make its directory in your hard drive. Eg: C:\p2k\. Do NOT have any spaces in the directory name. I use just p2k as the folder name on my hard drive. (So p2k commander will be launched from C:\p2k\P2kCommander.exe).
2. Download Motorola USB Drivers: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/
Note: You will need to create a login to download these drivers. Once you have downloaded it, install it.
3. Launch P2k Commander, click Options.
Make sure the only thing checked in the check boxes is: Use p2k commands (override autodetect) (V3xx, V6MAXX, E2...). Then select in the radio buttons (the circles), select: Safe (slow) 3G-P2K commands (A1000, V980). Then click Ok.
4. Close P2k Commander. Launch Motorola Software Update (if you don't have it, you can download it from Motorola's site). Then plug your phone into your computer. Once MSU has found your phone, launch P2k Commander again. Select from the drop down list /a P2k Phone System, then re-read.
Your phone should now be connected with P2k Commander.

i tried your steps but i can't even get 4.9d to load. i am using vista if that matters. when i load 4.9d it tells me 4.9e is out and whether i choose yes or no to upgrade it just shuts down. and the same thing is happening with msu even with the newer drivers. i plug in my phone when it says, the little icon of a cell phone pops up like it has found my phone and then it crashes moments later. in my device manager there are three things that come up when i plug in the phone under "motorola usb device": accessories interface, data logging mcu interface, and test command interface. all have a motorola logo as the icon.

Interesting. Try uninstalling everything. MSU, USB drivers, P2k, and whatever else you may have installed. Then re-do it from my steps above.
- I am running vista, too, and it works fine.
